Xi'an Banpo Museum and area
Banpo, Xi'An, Shaanxi, China, Asia
Banpo is an archaeological site discovered in 1953 and located in the Yellow River Valley just east of Xi'an, China. It contains the remains of several well organized Neolithic settlements, like Jiangzhai, carbon dated to 6700–5600 years ago. The area of 5 to 6 hectares (12 to 15 acres) is surrounded by a ditch, probably a defensive moat, 5 to 6 meters (16 to 20 ft) wide. The houses were circular, built of mud and wood with overhanging thatched roofs. They sat on low foundations. There appear to be communal burial areas. Banpo is the type site associated with Yangshao Culture. Archaeological sites with similarities to the first phase at Banpo are considered to be part of the “Banpo phase” (7th millennium bc) of the Yangshao culture. Banpo was excavated from 1954 to 1957.
The settlement was surrounded by a moat, with the graves and pottery kilns located outside the moat perimeter. Many of the houses were semisubterranean with the floor typically 1 meter (3 ft) below the ground surface. The houses were supported by timber poles and had steeply pitched thatched roofs. According to the Marxist paradigm of archaeology that was prevalent in the China during the time of the excavation of the site, Banpo was considered to be a matriarchal society; however, new research contradicts this claim and the Marxist paradigm is gradually being phased out in modern Chinese archaeological research. Currently, little can be said of the religious or political structure from these ruins from the archeological evidence. The site is now home to the Xi'an Banpo Museum, built in 1957 to preserve the archaeological collection.
Banpo Museum, Xian
Located on the eastern bank of the Chan River in Xian, Shaanxi Province, Banpo Museum is the first museum built at the prehistoric site.
Banpo site is a typical matriarchal clan society of the Yangshao Culture in the Yellow River Basin. The unearthed cultural relics in the museum such as the huts, kilns and tombs of the primitive residents display the production activities of the Banpo people about 6,000 years ago. At that time, women were the crucial labor force. They made pottery, spun and raised their families while men fished.
Banpo Museum includes two exhibition halls and a site hall. In the two exhibition halls display the unearthed production tools and domestic tools used by the Banpo people, such as axes, chisels, sickles and stone knives. The site hall has residential, pottery making and burial sections, which present us an outlook of the Banpo aboriginal village.

Zwiedzanie Chin - Terakotowa Armia, Banpo Museum, Xi'an

Short visit of Xi’an / Visite de Xi’an (Shaanxi - China)
(EN) Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi province, located in the northwest of the People's Republic of China, in the center of the Guanzhong Plain.[3] One of the oldest cities in China, with more than 6,000 years of history, the city was known as Chang'an before the Ming dynasty.[1] Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, having held the position under several of the most important dynasties in Chinese history, including Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang.[Xi'an is the starting point of the Silk Road and home to the Terracotta Army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang.[1]
Since the 1990s, as part of the economic revival of interior China especially for the central and northwest regions, the city of Xi'an has re-emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational centre of the central-northwest region, with facilities for research and development, national security and China's space exploration program. Xi'an currently holds sub-provincial status, administerring 9 districts and 4 counties.[ According to the 2010 Census, nine urbanized districts of Xi'an has a population of 6,501,189, while the total population of the Municipality is up to 8,467,837.[It is the most populous city in Northwest China, as well as one of the three most populous cities in Western China.[According to a July 2012 report by the Economist Intelligence Unit, it was recently named as one of the 13 emerging megacities, or megalopolises, in China.[ The report pinpoints and highlights the demographic and income trends that are shaping these cities' development.
