Xi Yuan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Beijing does
not look like a clinic on the leading edge of modern medicine. But here, and increasingly around the world, people are putting their health in the hands of traditional healers. The science on which it is based goes back thousands of years. Yet surprisingly China currently commands only a small fraction of the world market in Chinese herbal treatments despite its long history of using the preparations. China has an ageing population and must increasingly search for cost-effective treatment for the elderly. Western consumers are eager for natural green remedies for their ailments, but doctors in the West rarely have more than a college level biology understanding of the practices.

STORYLINE:
A restaurant in Beijing is cashing in on the football fever which has gripped the country, as China's national football team prepares to compete in the World Cup finals for the first time.
The Qian Xi Yuan Football Fan Restaurant mainly serves local Beijing dishes but its various rooms are all named after renowned European football clubs, such as Inter-Milan, Juventus and Liverpool.
This is a place that feeds the stomachs of Beijing football fans, and their growing appetites for the popular sport.
The restaurant opened for business in October 1999.
It was the first soccer-themed restaurant in Beijing, with a capacity for 300 diners.
The Qian Xi Yuan is always crowded in the evenings, but now there's live football on television, the place is packed to capacity.
The restaurant manager says every table was booked for the World Cup's opening day - May 31.
And there's no chance of getting a seat on June 4 and June 8 either.
Tables are also booked out on the days when China will play Costa Rica and the mighty Brazil.
Not surprisingly, the restaurant's manager, Liu Wenting, is delighted with success of his business and the national team.
Qian Xi Yuan, which means Millennium Garden, has its own football team whose players come from the 40 staff at the restaurant.
The establishment is decorated with all kinds of football-related memorabilia from balls and t-shirts to photographs.
It also serves theme dishes, with about 20 specialities named after well-known clubs.
Wenting also claims football fans can benefit spiritually from watching matches and connecting with the players.
The restaurant covers 600 square metres, but it still cannot satisfy the customers - or its owner.
Now a larger, sister restaurant has opened its doors to cater for a growing supply of football fans.
And with such a large potential market, the restaurant's not likely to be the last of its kind to cash in on football fever.

How to Tell Real Jade from Fake
Watch more Buying, Spending, & Shopping Tips videos:
A beautiful stone that can be the traditional green or other bright colors, jade has historically been used in Chinese and Korean art and jewelry. Learn how to spot real jade by following these tips.
Step 1: Scratch the surface of the jade
Use your fingernail to scratch the surface of the jade. Real jade is very solid and won't show a scratch.
Tip
Look for real jade with bright, intense colors, a smooth finish, and a watery luster.
Step 2: Touch the jade to your face
Hold the jade against the side of your face. The real deal will feel cold to the touch.
Step 3: Test with a warm pin
Warm a straight pin by placing it under hot running water. Touch the warm pin to the surface of the jade. A sign of fake jade is a scratch or indentation where the pin touched the surface.
Step 4: Examine for imperfections
Examine the surface of the jade and look for imperfections, like pits or other marks. Look for slight variations in color throughout the stone. Real jade is typically not going to look absolutely perfect.
Tip
Use a polishing cloth to clean your jade. Gem cleaners can damage the surface.
Step 5: Consult with a jeweler
Take your jade to a jeweler to get a professional opinion of your stone's authenticity. They will examine the jade and perform a density test. The jeweler can also help you determine the potential value of your piece -- maybe helping you uncover a treasure you never even knew you had.
Did You Know?
Jade is considered a good luck charm, particularly among East Asian cultures. Many believe that it can ward off evil spirits, and bring you health and wealth.
