Beppu Onsen Jigoku is located in Beppu City Oita Ken Japan. This is one of the most exciting tourist destination in Oita. But beware, this onsen is not for bathing because the temperature is 100 degrees.
There are 8 hells “ jigoku” in total that are scattered in the area.
The “Kimatsuki jigoku” or the geyser hell
The “Umi jigoku” or cobalt blue ocean hell
The “Chinoike jigoku” or blood pond hell

The “Yama Jigoku” or Mountain hell

If you visit this place do not forget to try their manju. It is very delicious. And of course the very popular “onsen tamago” or egg boiled in the hotspring.

Hells of Beppu ???? Beppu Jigoku Meguri ???? Japanese Hell Tour ???? 別府地獄めぐり ???? Japan As It Truly Is
Beppu in Oita Prefecture is a very active geothermal area, hence its hot springs are famous. But the Beppu Hells or Beppu Jigoku are areas too hot for any bather and are also a big tourist draw -- you can see the full Jigoku Meguri (地獄めぐり) tour here. With no blathering chatter for the friend or family member who couldn't make it, nor any hammy theatrics - the Beppu Hells don't need any.
For a discount, get the tour ticket that lets you visit 7 of them. For one, however, the Yama Jigoku, you'll need to pay for it separately. Three of them are literally right next to each other, and 2 more and a very short walk away. Only the last 2, the Chinoike and Tatsumaki Jigoku Hell are farther away, about 2.5 km. To save time, note that the Tatsumaki Hell is a geyser that goes off every 30-40 minutes - so go there first and find out when the next eruption is. If you just missed it, then go see the Blood Pond Hell first.

夜の海地獄2018, 別府市
One of the major attractions in Beppu, Japan is the 8 hot springs known as hells. One of them is the 'Umi Jigoku' known as 'Sea Hell' which is visited during the day by hundreds of people. But once a year, for 10 days only, it opens for visitors during the night and it gets beautifully illuminated. In 2018 the spectacle took place during September, from the 15th to the 24th.

Exploring Onsen (Hot Spring) HELL|Day 90 - Oita
The hells (地獄, jigoku) of Beppu are eight spectacular hot springs for viewing rather than bathing. They are presented to visitors in a rather touristy fashion, which might not appeal to everybody. Six of the hells are located in the Kannawa district and two in the more remote Shibaseki district.
Umi Jigoku
One of the more beautiful hells, the sea hell features a pond of boiling, blue water. In its spacious gardens, there are a few secondary, orange colored hells and a large, clear water pond with lotus flowers whose large leaves are strong enough to carry small children.

Shiraike Jigoku
True to its name, the white pond hell features a pond of hot, milky water. The pond is surrounded by a nice garden and a small, run-down aquarium that has seen better days.
Kamado Jigoku
The cooking pot hell features several boiling ponds and a flashy demon statue as cook. On the grounds, visitors can drink the hot spring water, enjoy hand and foot baths, inhale the hot spring steam and try various snacks cooked or steamed by the hot spring.
Oniyama Jigoku
A large number of crocodiles are bred and kept on the grounds of the monster mountain hell.
Yama Jigoku
The mountain hell features small ponds of steaming hot water and a run-down zoo with large animals in small cages.
Chinoike Jigoku
The blood pond hell features a pond of hot, red water and a large souvenir shop. It is one of the more photogenic of the eight hells.
Tatsumaki Jigoku
The spout hell features a boiling hot geyser, which erupts every 30-40 minutes for about 6-10 minutes. A stone plate above the geyser hinders it to reach its full height. A short walking trail leads up the forested slope in the back of the hell grounds.
