As we are settling in to our daily lives and routine in China, we've been exploring our surrounding area.
On New Years weekend we traveled to Hankou, an area of Wuhan that hosts the famous Yellow Crane Tower. Starting at the east gate we had a nice walk down a winding stone path, lined with intricate archways. After making a stop to ring the giant bell, we ventured up the Yellow Crane Tower to check out the views of this mega-city.
Definitely would recommend this to anyone in Wuhan looking for a way to spend a nice Saturday afternoon!

Yellow Crane Tower, Wuhan
Constructed on the Snake Hill in Wuhan, the Yellow Crane Tower is famed as 'the First Tower under Heaven'. It was originally built as a watchtower during the Three Kingdoms Period. Its military function was gradually forgotten and the tower became a well-known attraction during the Tang Dynasty. Many famous poets visited the Yellow Tower and wrote poems to eulogize its magnificence.
The legend has it that the Yellow Tower was built by the owner of a pothouse called Old Xin. One day, a Taoist priest came to the pothouse. The son of Old Xin was very kind and gave some wine to him for free. In reward for the son's hospitality, the Taoist priest drew a crane on the wall, which would dance at the banquet. Because of the dancing crane, Old Xin made a lot of money. Ten years later, the Taoist priest came here again. He rode the crane and flew away. Then Old Xin built Yellow Crane Tower to thank the Taoist Priest.

the Yangtze River Bridge also is knowed as the First River Bridge in Wuhan. it was builded by russian workers and got finished in 1957. it is the first Highway-Railwaybridge in stock which means the trains are rolling underneeth the road.
The City of Wuhan is the third biggest City in China and has been referred as the Chicago of Asia.
