#Yellowstone has long remained in the American imagination as a land little touched by humanity. From the steaming power of erupting geysers, to the thundering might of the Yellowstone River, this magnificent landscape is testament to the power and beauty of Mother Nature.
When European explorers first ventured into these enchanting lands, they returned with stories which most people dismissed as hallucinations. Since then, it has become one of America’s ultimate #adventure #vacation destinations and provides a home for the largest remaining herd of wild bison on the planet. Welcome to Yellowstone, the grandfather of all national parks.
We hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

Downtown Tour - Jackson Hole Wyoming
Jackson Hole Wyoming - Gateway To Yellowstone And Grand Teton National Park
Jackson Hole Wyoming and Yellowstone are synonymous because the majority of people visiting the Geysers of Yellowstone first pass through Jackson hole Wyoming. The majority of people visiting Yellowstone tend to enter through the park's southern gates after visiting Grand Teton but Jackson Hole is also a winter skiing mecca for extreme skiers.
Jackson Hole was once named Jackson's Hole, believed to be named after a local Beaver Trapper that worked the are in the 1800's. As the story goes, Beaver trappers entering the area from the surrounding mountainsides would look at the valley as if they were entering a hole. The skiing resort at Jackson hole is home to what has been named America's Scariest Ski Run which is so steep that if you fall at the beginning you may tumble and not stop until you are at the bottom.
Real Estate prices in Jackson Hole among the the most expensive in the nation, both for it's desirable proximity to Yellowstone National Park and prime ski areas but also because the government owns the vast majority of the land so there is very little private property available. Jackson hole is frequented by billionaires, celebrities and royal families.

We are back in Jackson for a week or so and so you get a different season. Check out our other video shot in Winter and in 360VR. That was a fun one but cold. Now you get to see what it's like in spring after (most of) the snow has melted. We start downtown at the town square with the famous antler arches and make our way past the fair grounds and library and Fish Creek. I also point out several hotels and lodges and other accommodations as I go through town .

Jackson is a small city in the Jackson Hole valley of Teton County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 9,577 at the 2010 census, up from 8,647 in 2000. It is the county seat of Teton County and is its largest town.
Jackson is the principal town of the Jackson, WY-ID Micropolitan Statistical Area, which includes Teton County in Wyoming and Teton County in Idaho.
The town derives its name from Jackson Hole, the valley in which it is located.
The town gained significant fame when a livestream of the town square went viral on YouTube in 2016, leading to much fascination with the town's elk antler arch, its law enforcement, and its prevalence of red trucks.

Weekend in Jackson, Wyoming in Winter
Weekend in Jackson, Wyoming in Winter
We took a few days to run down to Jackson, Wyoming this January to see friends and take a sleigh ride on the elk refuge. There is SO much to do in Jackson that we've planned another trip in May. The elk refuge is worth the price. You take a short shuttle bus ride from the visitor center north of town and are shuttled back. There are blankets for your legs and you can get very close to the elk. We also enjoyed a ski in Grand Teton National Park. It's a majestic park and the trails are excellent. We didn't show our visit to Dornan's in Moose after our sky and keep an eye out for some 360 Video from our tubing fun at Snow King right in town!

Visit Wyoming (Wyoming Road Trip)
Last fall I went on a road trip through the beautiful state of Wyoming. We went from East to West, trying everything and seeing as much as we could. From watching geysers erupt at Yellowstone national park, to horseback riding, to kayaking in front of the Grand Tetons, to Jackson Hole, to historical museums, we saw it all.
It was definitely one of the most memorable trips I've been on!
Jackson City, Wyoming, United States
Jackson City Wyoming 2005, wild west
Jackson Hole was originally populated by Native American tribes including the Shoshoni, Crow, Blackfeet, Bannock, and Gros Ventre. John Colter entered Jackson Hole during the winter of 1807/1808 during the return journey of the Lewis & Clark expedition. The area became a prime area for trappers and many famous mountain men traveled through the area in the early 1800s. These mountain men are responsible for many of the names in the valley including Bridger, Jedediah Smith, and Sublette. David Jackson gave his name to the valley after a winter spent on the shores of Jackson Lake.
As part of the Hayden Expedition of 1871 and 1872, William Henry Jackson took the first photographs of the Teton Mountains and Yellowstone. His photographs, along with the sketches by Tom Moran, were important evidence to convince Congress to protect Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone National Park became the first National Park in 1872. Grand Teton National Park was created in 1920 and greatly expanded in 1950 through the generous efforts of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., who purchased and then donated over 30,000 acres.
The Town of Jackson was named in 1894. Some of the early buildings remain and can be found throughout the area of the Town Square. The Town of Jackson elected the first all-woman city council in 1920.
The first ski rope tow was built at Teton Pass in 1937 and Snow King Resort was established in 1930. Teton County now boasts three excellent ski areas including Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village, Grand Targhee Ski and Summer Resort located on the West slope of the Tetons, and Snow King Resort.
The Town of Jackson is the county seat of Teton County and the only incorporated municipality in the region. Less than 3% of land in Teton County is privately owned. 97% of the 2,697,000 acres in Teton County are federally or state owned/managed.
In 2009, the Town of Jackson was designated as a Preserve America Community. This designation recognizes that, as a community, we protect and celebrate our heritage, use historic assets for economic development and encourage people to experience and appreciate local historic resources.

National Parks Road Trip to Wyoming & Grand Teton | Landscape Photography
In a last minute road trip, we travel to two of the best National Parks near Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Podcast Listener and friend Daniel Lindhardt offered us the opportunity to stay for free in Signal Mountain Lodge and have a chance to see the bears. Unfortunately Yellowstone's roads were still close and we didn't see any on this trip, but we had some amazing clouds and that made timelapse photography a lot of fun!
Thanks for watching and see you next week!

Last weekend we went down to Wyoming to find a bunch of things to do in Jackson Hole. There are lots of things to do in Wyoming and lots of Wyoming attractions but the little town of Jackson is a highlight.
There are a lot of options for lodging in Jackson. Out of all the hotels and motels, we stayed at the Wort Hotel in downtown Jackson, home to the Silver Dollar bar and the Cowboy Bar.
We hope this helps you decide what to do in Jackson or what to do in Wyoming in general. Have a great trip!
But seriously, check out the blog post:

Driving from Jackson Hole, WY to Yellowstone National Park
Today I drove from Jackson Hole, Wyoming to Butte, Montana. The first leg of today's journey takes us to the south entrance to Yellowstone National Park.
My Sony HXR-NX100 rode shotgun on a tripod shooting at 4 fps. The tripod was held in place using bungee cords giving it I nice smooth feel, even on bumpy roads. I also used this same camera to shoot various scenes around the country, and to interview folks.
