CityU AIS Study Tour 2016 | Yokohama, Japan (30 June - 7 August 2016)
Study Tour to Japan has been very popular among students and it is one of the important featured student activities in the minor programme. Nineteen students (14 AIS students and 5 minor students) participated in the credit-bearing study tour to Yokohama located in Tokyo of Japan from 30 June to 7 August 2016.
The tour's main aim was to broaden and deepen students’ knowledge in the Japan society and Japanese language. The study visit conveyed in fieldwork and language learning at the Kanagawa University. During the study tour, students attended language courses which aimed at improving students’ communication skills. The tour also includes various study visits and hands-on experience so that students can use the target language practically and interact with local students.
During 37 days of intense academic exchange programme at Kanagawa University, students were provided opportunity to learn different important issues in Japan through lectures and discussions. Academic lecture in English included Japanese Pop Culture, History, Economics and Politics. This enabled students to engage in their interested research area during the study tour and apply their knowledge in social science research acquired in their major courses.
Before returning to Hong Kong, students took an overnight trip to Fuji Mountain (staying at Fujimi Seminar House), to get some sense of Japan's beautiful nature, rich history surrounding the arts and religious activities, and increasingly globally significance of the living legend of Fuji Mountain.

Astonishing UAP with shock waves captured by SID-1 at MinatoMirai in Yokohama Japan. Is it REAL UFO?

Space Phenomena Observatory Center (SPOC)
It is UAP (Unidentified Aerial Phenomena) captured by SID-1, although it seems to be a considerable distance in the east direction, above the US Navy base in Minato Mirai, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture JAPAN.
Since it is a flying object with an odd shape, it can be recognized as a UFO.

I am glad to see this as well. I have had the chance to observe total eclipses from time to time outside Japan. But, this is my first experience of seeing the transit. So, I am really pleased.
13. SOUNDBITE: (Japanese) Vox pop:
I observed the sun before because a friend of my mother showed it to me. But, there wasn't any dot at that time. But, there is one in the sun today. Isn't that strange?
14. Men looking up
STORYLINE:
Dozens of stargazers gathered at Yokohama Science Centre outside Tokyo on Tuesday, and looked up at the sky as a small dark disc crept across the face of the sun.
It was one of the rarest of celestial spectacles - a transit of Venus across the face of the sun.
In Japan, the last transit was observed 130 years ago in 1874.
Observers cheered as the small dot entered the surface of the sun.
The weather was not ideal for observation as the rainy season just started this week, so there was a lot of cloud cover.
But luckily the transit was visible through breaks in the cloud.
The Japanese will not be able to see the whole transit.
The sun sets over the country at around 09:54 GMT, which is just before Venus clears the sun's surface.
The next transit of Venus will occur in 2012, 8 years from now.

From August 10 - August 16th Yokohama Japan is being overrun by Pikachu and Evee! Rhiannon and I checked it out on August 11th and got some great, albeit wet, spots to see this EDM Water Show featuring a lot of Pikachus and Evees. It's near the Red Brick Warehouse shopping area and was a lot of fun. Everyone from babies to the elderly were here having a great time!

Eevee Outbreak at the Pikachu Science is Amazing 2018 Festival in Yokohama, Japan
The Pikachu Science is Amazing Festival 2018 kicked off for its fifth year on August 10, 2018. Just like its Pokemon characters, the festival continues to evolve with new events and souvenirs.Perhaps one of the cutest and long-awaited events is the debut of Eevee Outbreak. This year, Pikachu and Eevee will invade Yokohama with awesomeness. I was lucky to get a front row seat for the first Eevee show. You could hear squeals of the audience saying Kawaii! (Cute!) throughout Yokohama. I have to admit, I was smitten too!
Please enjoy Eevee's debut show. Since some of the music used was copyrighted, I have used music from You Tube's audio library to abide within the copyright policies.
This festival usually takes place during the first half of August. If you're a Pikachu/Pokemon/Eevee fan, definitely go check this festival out!
