重要伝統的建造物群保存地区-横手市増田-
秋田県南部、冬は雪深い横手市増田地区。
明治前期から戦前にかけて建てられた、主屋・内蔵・外蔵を「トオリ」と呼ばれる土間で結ぶ商家町屋が残る町並みは、平成25年12月27日、国の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区に選定されました。
現在確認されているものとして、48棟ある内蔵は全てが戦前以前の建築で、明治時代前期~中期(明治1-29年)までと大正時代(大正1-15年)に多く建てられていることが分かっています。また56棟ある外蔵は、概ね戦前の建築と考えられます。
内蔵はものを納める文庫蔵だけではなく、むしろ内部に床の間を配した座敷間を有する「座敷蔵」が多いのが特徴で、公開日にはそれらを見ることができる蔵もあります。
