Review of Dos De Mayo tapas bar - Seville, Spain
I decided to withdraw all my Euros from my ANZ travel card before returning to Australia. If I cashed out the card back home I'd lose big time converting back into cash. I walked to Dos De Mayo tapas which had many outside tables. Good waiter food just okay.

Fresh Fallen Snow by Chris Haugen
TEXT
Right now it is a cold and rainy December day in England. Well not that cold, but there's certainly no sun in the sky. It's a dark grey day above all else, and I thought now would be a good time to look through my pictures from my recent trip to Seville in Spain. Unsurprisingly it was warm there, but what I loved most was that it was sunny and the simplest of things were a joy to photograph.
I took some film photos and I posted those in a previous video, but all of these are taken with my Fujifilm x-T3 and the 23mm f2 lens. It’s a fair bit heavier than using the compact X100, but I really like it. This has been my favourite combination for walking around in the sunshine recently - hope seeing the results are useful or interesting to you in some way.
For the few days I was there the Spanish sunshine would light up the city and cast distinct shadows across the colourful walls and streets. A bright, harsh sun can often be troublesome for photographing people, but it seems to bring street scenes to life. It heightens bright colours, and the strong shadows articulate the shapes and geometry around you. The contrast of light and shade accentuates the texture of walls and in fabrics - everything appears to have an additional layer of life.
I hadn't been to Spain for a couple of decades and it all felt so new to me. If you hadn't noticed already from my channel, I really love taking a walk around a city, especially in warm places and Seville fit that description perfectly.
Taking photos in a city you've never been to before is refreshing for a photographer. It all felt new to me and I hadn’t looked through pictures of the city before I arrived. It was nice not really knowing what to expect except sunshine.
Perhaps you've never been to Venice before, but I'd be amazed if you didn't have dozens of pictures of the city in your head. You'd be sure to arrive already familiar with the place from afar - but with Seville it wasn't like that at all.
It was refreshing to take pictures that weren't versions of other people's photos that were in my mind. I wasn't photographing a version of a city I'd seen many times through other people's eyes.
I'm not saying for a moment that helped me to take especially original pictures, possibly quite the opposite. I simply felt unburdened by preconceptions. I could naively hold my camera up to the beautiful Tower Of Gold as if it had never been photographed before. I was just happy to be there and learn about the city one step at a time.
I wish I'd stayed for more than a few days, and I'm already planning on going back.
