[360 CAMERA VR VIDEO] ARIMA ONSEN BEST AUTUMN (FALL) LEAF SPOTS KOBE JAPAN 2019 - INSTA360 ONE X
My first-ever 360-degree video with the Insta360 One X!
I visited Arima Onsen in Kobe, Japan, to see the beautiful autumn (fall) colours. Known as one of the best places to see autumn leaves in Kobe, Arima Onsen is a quaint 1,000-year-old hot spring resort town.
Follow me on a 360-degree tour of the town's shops and Zuihoji Park to take in the autumn foliage.
If you're watching on your phone you can swipe the screen to change the view or pan/tilt your phone in the direction you want.
If you're watching on a PC, you can use your mouse to click drag the point of view around or use the WASD keys on the keyboard.
Technical note: Audio was recorded by the onboard camera mic. My lavalier mic has died and I'm still waiting on a replacement. Also, I'm not looking directly into the lens because of the way the camera was being held horizontally to get the 360 effect.
This is was a fun experiment to try out.

Arima Onsen Part 1
Arima Onsen (有馬温泉) is an onsen, or hot springs in Kita-ku, Kobe, Japan. This Onsen, one of Japan's oldest, is still a hidden treasure of modern Kobe, behind Mount Rokko. It attracts many Japanese who want tranquility with beautiful natural surroundings and yet easy access from the busy cities in the Kansai metropolitan area including Osaka.
Arima Onsen has two kinds of springs. One is kinsen (金泉, gold spring), which has water colored yellow-brown from iron and salt. The other is ginsen (銀泉, silver spring), which is colorless and contains radium and carbonate.
There is an annual tea ceremony on November 2-3 performed in the open air in the Zuihoji Park with its beautiful autumn leaves. During this time, tea ceremonies are performed by local maiko.

Da noive! Someone in da peanut gallery asked if all what I’m writing is a figment of my imagination and not real! Eh, I not like some of my other friends who constantly make up stories. All what I write is something that is/was happening to me on this trip. So there! Pay attention. I don’t have a growing woody nose like Pinocchio and Dr. O! kekekekeke
Yesterday, I re-visited a few of the Taiko Hideyoshi places. There are plenty more places in connection with him which I leave to you folks to explore later. These spots are Zenpukuji Temple, Negai-zaka, Nenbutsuji Temple, Hideyoshi’s Bath Museum, Zuihoji Park and Mt. Haigata.
This is moving house day. I wanted to try another ryokan in Arima Onsen. After breakfast, I decided to go exploring again, i.e., getting lost. So I checked out, left my junks at the front desk and told them I going BURA-BURA for a bit and claim my junks later. I “explored” the neighborhood and ended up at ZUIHOJI PARK. It was a hilly climb. The park is a small one. The only thing worth visiting is the rock “GO” table which Taiko Hideyoshi allegedly played GO on long ago. The park is small so I went zip-zip through it and then picked up my stuff at the hotel and went HE-LE on to my next place. I got to the Gyoen Hotel but they told me check-in is at 2:30 p.m. so I left my junks and went BURA-BURA some more. Walked around town central and stopped for refreshments (beers) at several places and it was lunch time. I just walked into a place which specializes in Salibury steaks. I forgot this was really hamburger but eh, I was a good boy and ate lots of vegetarian junks so I can have one hamburger steak right? Hey, the steak was ONO! There were 2 seasonings that were not recommended for kids so I asked the waitress why? She said was “KA-RA-I”, i.e., spicy hot! So I said give me the least hot one and that one was black pepper spicy and ONO!
Walked around some more and finally got bored and tired so I went to the tourist information office and asked if they had public onsen furo baths. She recommended the Gyoen but I told her that’s where I’m waiting to check in so she told me about one just one block away called Goshobo Hotel. I paid 2000-yen to use their furo. They have a neat set-up and if any of you thinking of coming to Arima Onsen, try look staying at Goshobo Hotel. It is just a block away from the Nene statue. They had 2 types of baths, the clear one and the muddy iron-mineral one. What’s interesting is that all the baths have windows facing outdoors. You can see the hotel windows and that means the guest at the hotel can see you too yeh? Not really, since inside is a little dark – you can see out but I think looking in from outside is harder. The rusty brown pool is divided by a little rocky partition just below my head. So the clerk told me to watch out because you can peer over and see the ladies in the rust pool and they can do the same. So, I went soak in the rusty pool and went peer over and I never see anything. It seems I was the only one at that time soaking in the men or the women side. Shucks! So I went back to the clear pool which was out of the way and also lonesome!
At 2:30 p.m. I got to check into my room. Wow, was I surprised. I got a big room, it has its own patio on the 7th floor with an outdoor mini-roten-buro or a mini outdoor hottub. The regular onsen furo is also on the 7th floor so I told the lady, I going to the regular onsen because I don’t want to waste water on my own mini-furo. WI-FI is available in the lobby of the 1st floor and 7th floor so I scored again as, while I can’t do WI-FI in my room, I just gotta go to the 7th floor common area which is just a few steps away from my front door.
Went out for dinner. Walked in this place and asked if they had food (I thought was one restaurant). They served only beer, at least that is what I think I heard them say. I noticed coupla birds flitting in and out and then saw one nest with chicks on top of a light fixture in this place. The lady didn’t know the English word for the bird so she took out her cell phone and brought up swallow. I tried to take pictures of the swallows feeding but they didn’t come out too good. Went to another place and finally found something to eat. I ended up eating Osaka style okonomiyake.

紅葉:真っ赤に染まる秋の瑞宝寺公園 Japanese autumn leaves
The Zuihoji Temple, which became a disposal temple in 1873, is now familiar as a park in Kobe City.
It is close to Arima Onsen which loved Toyotomi Hideyoshi, autumn leaves are a wonderful place in autumn.
As the 2500 maples colored and Toyotomi Hideyoshi saw the sight, they were said to have said no matter how much they look and there are also aliases for garden of Higurashi.
