DAY761 : MY SECRET SPOT IN ISTANBUL
I spent everyday walking in Istanbul. There are just so much to see and it's simply fun. Wandering around, it takes me to a special place. After we shopped for some mechanicals in the electronic district, we passed through a sparkling market called Egyptian Bazaar, got lost and so just went up along an alley which we found off the arcade. We hit the end after passing through an old mosque and found stairs to the rooftop of an old building. An old man came out of the mosque and pushed us to go up. At the top, it was an open view of the whole city with the new town right in the front. The adhan was calling from many gigantic mosques. At the rooftop of the abandoned building, they put pillows and made it like a caffe. No roof, no sign but an astonishing view. They offer free cups of chai and coffee. It was one of the best spot I found in Istanbul. The owner explained about the space that the old square building is exact same size as the black cube in Mecca, Kaʻaba, and asked us if we knew why the market is empty at night despite busy at daytime. Without an answer, after the sunset we headed our way down the building into the market where we found really no one. Then we went back losing our way to the hotel.
見所いっぱいのイスタンブールを毎日歩きまわる。この街は面白い。ふらふらと歩いていると、不思議な場所に出くわす。僕らはちょっとした機材を買いに電気街へ向かったあと、エジプシャンバザールというキラキラした市場を抜けて道に迷い、適当に商店街の小道を上ってみた。古そうなモスクを通り抜けた行き止まりに、ボロボロの建物の上に登れる階段がある。上って良いものか迷っていると、モスク帰りのおじさんが上がれと促してくれる。上った途端、目の前が一気に開けた。イスタンブールが一望でき、向かいの新市街が目の前。巨大なモスクがいくつも見え、ちょうどアザーンがなっていた。この廃墟の屋上のような場所は、クッションを置いて小さなカフェになっているらしい。屋根はない。看板もないけれど、絶景がある。チャイとコーヒーが飲み放題のその青空カフェは、これまでイスタンブールを歩きまくった中で１番の場所だった。この廃墟のオーナーだという人が、その場所をしきりに説明してくれる。その屋上にある四角い建物はメッカにある黒い立方体「カアバ」と同じ大きさだとか、建物の一帯は市場で昼間すごい人だが夜は人が一人もいなくなる、なぜだかわかるか？とか。正直よく分からなかったけれど、夕日をみて建物から降りたあと、降りた周りの市場には本当に誰一人いなくなっていて、僕らは何だかよく分からずに、迷いながら宿へと帰った。

$100 in ISTANBUL in 24 Hours? What Can You Get?!

**Watch until the end to see how I almost didn't make it legally into Istanbul**
A few days ago, I spent the wildest 24 hours in Istanbul and budgeted myself with $100 to see how much fun I could have in the city.
This was my 4th visit to Istanbul, and every time I go back, I love it more and more. It might be the most electric and vibrant city in the world.
This is the 5th sequel to my “$100 in 24 Hours” series — but I think it’s the best one because Istanbul is MUCH cheaper than the previous few cities (Hong Kong and Barcelona)... The affordability enabled me to go ALL OUT on a $100 budget — kebabs, kumpir, coffee, baklava, tea, shisha, Efes beer and TONS MORE!
Lastly, the fact that I got into Istanbul, Turkey is a MIRACLE ... Have you heard about the Turkey/USA mutual visa ban?! Just 3 hours before my plane arrived in Istanbul (literally), all U.S citizens were banned to visit Turkey indefinitely (the Turkish government mimicked the U.S.'s ban last week which prohibited Turkish citizens from entering the USA). I read this news while sitting on the runway in Tel Aviv, and I was so nervous that I was gonna get detained, deported and/or questioned by the Turkish immigration, but I made it in safely!!! I think I was the last American to get a visa on arrival. I hope this stupid visa ban goes away, and both U.S. and Turkish citizens are able to visit each other's country again. I hate politics.

Foodie Istanbul - In the Kitchen at X Restaurant & Bar
I just got back from a luxury adventure in Istanbul and one of my amazing dinners was at X Restaurant & Bar in Istanbul ( This Turkish Mediterranean fusion place is in Sishane.
Dinner was truly amazing, the risotto with lamb being a favorite. Beautiful patio and view over the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. I flew to Istanbul on Turkish Airlines ( on their awesome Business Class service with flying chef. The foodie experience really does begin on the flight.

OVERVIEW: Overall Istanbul was a nice place. We didn't have a lot of time to explore other places/clubs etc. The first club was the best we found in the 5days we were there. Most clubs on Taksim strip were very suss but there are good ones in certain places. Will definitely visit again ! COMMENT BELOW ANY QUESTIONS !
