Kronshtadt St Petersburg Russia View from Cruise Ship
Our cruise ship the Norwegian Star was leaving Russia, and this video shows show interesting scenery of Kronshtadt (on Kotlin island) which is a town that is part of the St. Petersburg area. You see numerous ships of the Russian navy, some perhaps decommissioned, docked at the Kronstadt Ship Repair Plant, plus many small forts. The building with the shiny round dome is the Naval Cathedral in Kronstadt, and the tower is the Kronstadt lighthouse. This area, the Kronstadt Sea Fortress, was apparently one of the most fortified in the world. Finally the ship sails past Fort Totleben. Next came the Kronshtadtsky area, the end of Saint Petersburg, and into the open waters of the Gulf of Finland. Kronshtadtsky. That area sure looks like a giant gate which could potentially swing close and shutdown access to St. Petersburg by water! =======================
