Sulaymaniyah , also called Slemani, is a city in Iraqi Kurdistan. It is surrounded by the Azmer Range, Goyija Range and the Qaiwan Range in the northeast, Baranan Mountain in the south and the Tasluja Hills in the west. The city has a semi-arid climate with very hot dry summers and cool wet winters. Sulaymaniyah served as the capital of the historic principality of Baban from 1784 to 1850.   • 1. Dukan lake Sulaymaniyah
    The Dukan Dam is a multi-purpose concrete arch dam in As Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Northern Iraq. It impounds the Little Zab, thereby creating Lake Dukan. The Dukan Dam was built between 1954 and 1959 whereas its power station became fully operational in 1979. The dam is 360 metres long and 116.5 metres high and its hydroelectric power station has a maximum capacity of 400 MW.
