GOLD!! Warrandyte State Park - Gold Heritage Walk (A Brief Visual Tour) [Fourth Hill, Warrandyte]

Warrandyte State Park - Gold Heritage Walk (A Brief Visual Tour). Located about 30 mins East of Melbourne towards the Yarra Valley
A reasonably easy bush and track walk that could be done in 40 mins but we saw enough interesting sites and relics that it ended up being a 6km, 2 hour trek. The whole area is covered in old gold diggings.
This video shows the mines of the are along with the Miner's Hut, Mine Shafts, Diggings & the monument marking the area where the first gold was found in Victoria that sparked the Gold Rush of the Mid 19th century.

TUNNEL, WARRANDYTE

Presenting the Pound Bend Tunnel at Warrandyte in Melbourne, Australia.

Victoria became a separate colony from New South Wales in 1851. Around that same time, gold was discovered at Warrandyte, then known as Anderson's Creek; with additional finds elsewhere, the Victorian gold rush was born. The Yarra River was just one source of gold, and in 1870, the Evelyn Tunnel Gold Mining Company blasted a 196 metre long tunnel, in order to divert water from the 3.85 km section known as Pound Bend. The extraction of gold from the exposed river bed proved too difficult however, and the company collapsed after only a short existence. The dams that once prevented the water from flowing around the bend no longer exist, but the tunnel does, and its entrance can be viewed from Norman's Reserve, while its exit can be seen from Pound Bend Reserve.

Exploring Mt Lofty, Warrandyte State Park

The views from Mt Lofty, in the Warrandyte State Park, 30 km east of the Melbourne CBD, are superb. On the day of my visit, February 23 2009, where I completed a 3 km circuit hike, serious bushfires continued to burn across Victoria and in the mountains near to Melbourne.

Touring Australia ; King Charlie Waterhole

A little of the bird life taken on our afternoon stop. King Charlie Waterhole is located on the Paroo River 18km from Wanaaring in north western New South Wales.

1 Day in Melbourne

Had to go to Melbourne for a conference. I was only there 20 hours, so not much time to film. Next time I'm definitely going for a longer walk through those amazing streets!
