Leighlinbridge is a small town on the River Barrow in County Carlow, Ireland. The N9 National primary route once passed through the village, which was by-passed in the 1980s. It now lies on the R705 regional road. It covers the townlands of Leighlin and Ballyknockan . The village features narrow winding streets, grey limestone malthouses and castle ruins overlooking a 14th-century bridge across the River Barrow. Castlecomer is a town in the north of County Kilkenny, Ireland. The town was associated with the coal mining industry since the 17th century. At the 2011 census, the Central Statistics Office recorded that the 30.5 square kilometers of the Castlecomer Electoral District had a population was 2,293, with a population density of 75.2 persons per square kilometer. This was a decrease of 4.5% from the 2006 figure of 2,407 persons. The Castlecomer rural area has a population of 8,484. The town is positioned at the meeting of N78 and R694 roads about 16 km roads north of Kilkenny city. Castlecomer rural area has an area of 23,417 hectares. I'm down just outside Castleward near Strangford overlooking the scenic views of Strangford Lough. Here is well preserved Audley's Castle or Tower house. Audley's Castle was used as a Game of thrones film location.
Audley's Castle is a 15th-century castle located 1 mile (1.6 km) north-east of Strangford, County Down, Northern Ireland, on a rocky height overlooking Strangford Lough. It is a three-storey Tower house named after its 16th century owner, John Audley.
There are thousands of small stone towers similar to Audley's Castle in the Irish countryside. They are one of the commonest of archaeological sites, which indicates these were not buildings put up for the higher aristocracy, but for lesser lords and gentry. Most were built in the late Middle Ages (roughly 1350–1550). Audley's was built towards the end of this period.
