Aldbourne is a village and civil parish about 6 miles northeast of Marlborough in Wiltshire, England. It is in a valley in the south slope of the Lambourn Downs, which are part of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. From here an unnamed winterbourne flows and joins the River Kennet 4 miles south near the village of Ramsbury. The 2011 Census recorded the parish population as 1,833. It includes the hamlets of Upper Upham and Woodsend, and part of the hamlet of Preston, which straddles the boundary with Ramsbury parish. The small village of Snap became deserted in the early 20th century.

1. Sudeley Castle Winchcombe
Sudeley Castle is located in the Cotswolds near Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England. The present structure was built in the 15th century and may have been on the site of a 12th-century castle. The castle has a notable garden, which is designed and maintained to a very high standard. The chapel, St. Mary's Sudeley, is the burial place of Queen Catherine Parr , the sixth wife of King Henry VIII, and contains her marble tomb. Unusually for a castle chapel, St Mary's of Sudeley is part of the local parish of the Church of England. Sudeley is also one of the few castles left in England that is still a residence. As a result, the castle is only open to visitors on specific dates, and private family quarters are closed to the public. It is a Grade I listed building, and recognised as an internat...

First half of the video shows a bit of the village before moving on to the more interesting locations relevant to Dick Winters and Band of Brothers fans (partly because I didn't research Aldbourne before I got there and only got some good BoB info from a Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours tour guide who happened to be there when I arrived.

RAF Yatesbury Wiltshire. Abandoned & Creepy Place. The Oldest Airfield In Europe

RAF Yatesbury
First opened as an aerodrome in World War I, RAF Yatesbury continued operations in the interwar years before again taking on a major role in World War II. From 1936 onwards RAF Yatesbury and RAF Compton Bassett were major Radio and Radar Training Schools, RAF Townsend a satellite landing ground and RAF Cherhill was part No 27 Group, in Headquarters Technical Training Command. It was the oldest airfield in the whole of Europe and is the only airfield in the world that is still is such good condition. In the village church there are reminders of its military past, with a small number of war graves from both major conflicts.
After closure, the Radar and Wireless training school transferred to RAF Locking. The aircraft hangars and airfield, although now farmland, can still be seen from the A4. The buildings, site and surrounding area were featured in the video to the 1988 No.1 hit song Doctorin' the Tardis by The Timelords.

The London Countryway: Sunningdale To Windsor 25 March 2016

The London Countryway is a 205 mile long distance footpath that encircles Greater London. This is the wonderful 9 mile stretch of the Countryway between Sunningdale and Windsor. The walk goes across Colworth Park before entering Windsor Great Park and going alongside Virginia Water to the Totem Pole. Then the walk goes through the Cumberland Gate to reach to Copper Horse statue of King George III which is at the end of the famous Long Walk. The final 3 miles of the walk follows the Long Walk into Windsor town centre with great views of Windsor Castle. The walk took place in gloriously sunny weather on Friday 25 March 2016.

Other Walks: Devizes (Horton Bridge) to Pewsey, Part 2. 4/10/10.

Part 2 takes the walker on along the White Horse Trail for several more miles before descending to the picturesque village of Oare. Then, it's fairly level walking across meadows back to Pewsey.
