Wellington (pronounced /wɘlˈliŋtɘn/) is the capital city and third most populous urban area of New Zealand. The urban area is situated on the southwestern tip of the country's North Island, and lies between Cook Strait and the Rimutaka Range. It is home to 386,000 residents, with an additional 3,700 residents living in the surrounding rural areas.
The Wellington urban area is the major population centre of the southern North Island, and is the seat of the Wellington Region - which in addition to the urban area covers the Kapiti Coast and Wairarapa. The urban area lie across four cities. Wellington City, on the peninsula between Cook Strait and Wellington Harbour, contains the central business district and about half of Wellington's population. Porirua City on Porirua Harbour to the north is notable for its large Māori and Pacific Island communities. Lower Hutt City and Upper Hutt City are suburban areas to the northeast, together known as the Hutt Valley.
Wellington has become home to a myriad of high-profile events and cultural celebrations, including the biennial New Zealand International Arts Festival, biennial Wellington Jazz Festival, biennial Capital E National Arts Festival for Children and major events such as World of Wearable Art, Cuba Street Carnival, New Zealand Fringe Festival, New Zealand International Comedy Festival (also hosted in Auckland), Summer City, The Wellington Folk Festival (in Wainuiomata), New Zealand Affordable Art Show, the New Zealand Sevens Weekend and Parade, Out in the Square, Vodafone Homegrown, the Couch Soup theater festival, and numerous film festivals.

Installation of the Pukeatua Bridge, Wainuiomata

The new bridge is a pierless over-road walkway designed to provide a safe and accessible place for pedestrians and cyclists to cross the busy Wainuiomata Hill Road.
The construction of the bridge is phase one in the Wainuiomata cycleway project, which received $1.5m from the Government's $100 million urban cycleway fund. The project will provide a shared cycling and pedestrian path connecting Wainuiomata with the wider Hutt Valley.

This was a very rare find as it's not advertised much and mainly only visited by those living close by like Wellington. I saw it on google & revolved a 5 day roadtrip in combination with other sites to mainly get to this NZ natural gem
Patuna farm adventures, is located on privately owned land just 15 minutes from Martinborough. There is a small charge for the local farmer to drive you here (on a open seated trailer, very cool!) You are giving a map guide with some good info, a H&S chat and a overall briefing then you're off! About half of the walk is through bush (with amazing views) and the rest is made up of the 'wave rock', ladders, 2 small waterfalls and the very unique and beautiful chasm.. You get 3.5hours to explore which is enough to really take your time and enjoy!
