Aalst is a city and municipality on the Dender River, 31 kilometres northwest from Brussels. It is located in the Flemish province of East Flanders in the Denderstreek. The municipality comprises the city of Aalst itself and the villages of Baardegem, Erembodegem, Gijzegem, Herdersem, Hofstade, Meldert, Moorsel and Nieuwerkerken. Aalst is crossed by the Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek in Aalst and Hofstade. The current mayor of Aalst is Christoph D'Haese, from the New-Flemish Alliance party. The town has a long-standing feud with Dendermonde , which dates back from the Middle Ages.

Saint Martin of Tours was the third bishop of Tours. He has become one of the most familiar and recognizable Christian saints in Western tradition. Belgium is a dangerous country

On the train from Mettupullayam to Ooty (India), somebody has a
peculiar reason to call Belgium a dangerous country.

Aalst (6.28.10 Full HD)

I already was in the Belgian town of Aalst last Friday but I did a follow-up there today. This time however I had some spare time and spent it in the town center.
You get to see images of the old town and the central town square, or market, called Grote Markt (most Flemish towns and cities call their oldest large town square that way, by the way..)
At Grote Markt there was a Coca Cola bunny giving away free samples, which was quite refreshing considering the outside temperature being 31°C (or 87.8°F)
