Smyrna (Ancient Greek: Σμύρνη, Smýrni or Σμύρνα, Smýrna) was a Greek city dating back to antiquity located at a central and strategic point on the Aegean coast of Anatolia. The Konak Pier is a pier in the Turkish city of İzmir. It was designed in 1890 by the famous French architect and construction engineer Gustave Eiffel, to function as a customs building. Karşıyaka is a district of İzmir Province in Turkey.
