Parramatta, Sydney
Parramatta is a western district of Sydney, a city in its own right within the Sydney Metropolitan Area and the second oldest European settlement on the Australian mainland. Located 24 km from Sydney CBD and just 6 km from Sydney Olympic Park, Parramatta is both the demographic heart of the Harbour City and one of its most historic neighbourhoods.
Parramatta is on the upper reaches of the Parramatta River, that flows into Sydney Harbour. It was inhabited by the Barramatugal Aboriginal people. Originally called Rose Hill by the Europeans, the name was changed in line with a colonial policy of using Aboriginal names for places already named by Aboriginal people. Parramatta is likely a variation on Barramatugal.
Parramatta was the earliest vice-regal home of colonial Sydney. An agricultural settlement was established there within weeks of the first fleet arriving from Britain. The present day Sydney CBD was established as the colony's port settlement to service the more desirable Parramatta which became the preferred home of governors and the privileged free settlers in the early years of the colony. Sydney soon began to eclipse Parramatta in both size and importance over the next century, however it was the establishment of Parramatta that allowed the future global city to survive and then thrive.
Fast forward to the 20th Century.Parramatta became less of a discrete town or city following post-WWII suburban development, and as such became the centre of Western Sydney. It is now recognised as Sydney's Second CBD with many companies and state government departments having their headquarters exclusively in the rapidly consolidating city. In the 21st Century, Parramatta again serves the whole of Sydney as an economic powerhouse constituting a large percentage of Sydney's economic output and workforce.
Parramatta has elegant parks, the world class Riverside Theatres, and other attractions that make it a must-see destination within Greater Sydney. The ferry trip under the Harbour Bridge and up the Parramatta River makes the trip to Parramatta worthwhile simply for the journey itself.
There are many more attractions for the visitor to discover, and Parramatta is indeed one of Australia's best kept tourism secrets.

Arthur Circus, Battery Point, Hobart Australia Steadicam Walk
Steadicam walk around the famous and historical The Circus. Located in the suburb of Battery Point in Hobart The Circus is renowned for its early settler architecture.
Battery Point is a suburb of the city of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. It is immediately south of the Central business district. It is in the local government area of City of Hobart.
Battery Point is named after the battery of guns which were established on the point in 1818 as part of the Hobart coastal defences. The battery no longer exists.
The area is generally known as one of the city's more prestigious suburbs, with many large and extravagant homes and apartment blocks. It adjoins the waterfront Salamanca area as well as the nearby prestigious suburb of Sandy Bay.
Battery Point has a large number of historic houses dating from the first European settlement of 'Hobart Town'. Probably the most significant is Arthur Circus with its cottages, mostly originally constructed for the officers of the garrison. Arthur Circus is the only circus in Australia.
Battery Point is accessible via Hampden Road, which runs from Sandy Bay Road from the edge of the city.

Albion Park campaign to win Miss World crown
Is Ashleigh Francis, 23, the young woman who can bring the Miss World crown back to Australia for the first time since Belinda Green won in 1972?Albion Park hair and beauty salon owner and national Miss World Australia judge Felice Colarusso thinks she has a great chance.
In fact, Mr Colarusso and hairdresser Zarrette Sheil are keen to help Ms Francis prepare in any way they can to be the first Australian in 38 years to win the international title.
They talked her into choosing Albion Park for her first public appearance since she was named Miss World Australia, on August 3.It didn't take too much to convince the former McDonalds' College of the Performing Arts student and budding fashion designer to visit the Illawarra.Ms Francis lives at Rushcutters Bay with her Jamaican father and Scottish mother, but once lived in the Macarthur region and spent many a summer's day visiting Bulli.I used to go to Bulli for the dogs and I would sit under those big palm trees and get fish and chips across the road, she said.Bulli was awesome.Ms Francis' visit to Albion Park on Saturday was an important part of her preparation for the Miss World judging in China in just over a month, where she will contest the title with 119 other young women from around the globe.
The contestants won't have hairdressers or beauticians on hand during their four weeks in China, so Ms Francis was invited to the Tecnica salon for tips and advice on how to manage it all herself. She said she was also using her contact with Mr Colarusso, who has also judged in Italy, to help get herself mentally ready for the month away from home.It will be very intense but I am up for the challenge, she said.We will be constantly watched. It is very exciting. The pressure to go there and do your best is a challenge in its own right and that is what I have promised myself and Australia that I will go and do.It is 38 years since Australia has won the title ... I believe it is our time.

The museum was established in 1929 as the Marine Historical Association. Its first fame came with the acquisition in 1941 of the Charles W. Morgan, the only surviving wooden sailing whaler. The seaport was one of the first living history museums in the United States, with a collection of buildings and craftsmen to show how work was done. The seaport now receives about 400,000 visitors each year.
In addition, it supports research via an extensive library; runs the Frank C. Munson Institute of American Maritime Studies, a summer graduate-level academic program, established in 1955 by maritime historian Professor Robert G. Albion of Harvard University; and, in conjunction with Williams College, hosts Williams–Mystic, an undergraduate program in maritime studies. Outreach includes sailing classes for area children.
Mystic Seaport or Mystic Seaport: The Museum of America and the Sea, in Mystic, Connecticut, is the largest maritime museum in the world. It is notable for its collection of sailing ships and boats, and for the re-creation of the crafts and fabric of an entire 19th-century seafaring village. It consists of more than 60 original historic buildings, most of them rare commercial structures moved to the 17-acre (0.069 km2) site and meticulously restored,More Info
