Almansa is a Spanish town and municipality in the province of Albacete, part of the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha. The name Almansa stems from the Arabic المنصف , half way of the road. The municipality borders with Alicante, Valencia and Murcia. Almansa is famous for its Moros y Cristianos festival from celebrated from the 1st to the 6th of May. Almansa is built at the foot of a white limestone crag, which is surmounted by a Moorish castle, and rises abruptly in the midst of a fertile and irrigated plain.     The Church of la Asunción is a Roman Catholic church located in Almansa, province of Albacete Spain. Construction of the church at this site in the then-expanding town was chosen in 1524. A number of architects including maestro Marquina, Maestro Pedro, Maestro Juan de Aranguren, Juanes de Segura, and Juan de Urrea took the work to 1579. The late-Renaissance portal has a relief depicting the Annunciation and Assumption of the Virgin. The façade was started in 1619-1624 by Francisco de Figuerola.
