Anakie is a rural township between Geelong, Victoria, and Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, Australia. At the 2016 census, Anakie and the surrounding area had a population of 690. Everyone who goes out hunting for gems wants to find a stone which can be cut into a beautiful gem, to be mounted in a ring, necklace or ear ring to give to someone special.
Here is a selection of such gemstones from our many fossicking trips. You'll see sapphire, zircon, pyrope garnet, topaz, quartz, beryl and other stones all found within an hour's drive of our home in Glen Innes in the New England region of NSW Australia.
