Places to see in ( Asturias - Spain ) Mirador del Fito
Places to see in ( Asturias - Spain ) Mirador del Fito
Mirador del Fito from Arriondas is a straightforward climb with no serious difficulties. The gradient never exceeds 10% and the average is significantly lower, making it a comfortable ride. Unlike many cycling climbs, Mirador del Fito is all about the destination rather than the journey. The climb itself, beginning just outside the industrial town of Arriondas is largely forested and pleasant enough, but without being spectacular.
At the top of the climb, however, you reach the Mirador itself; a raised viewing platform which is famous throughout Spain for its scenery. To the north you will see the coastline of the Cantabrian sea, lined with quiet sandy beaches and rocky coves. To the south you will see the spectacular peaks of the Picos de Europa National Park, including the idiosyncratic summit of Narnajo del Bulnes.
Mirador del Fito has been used at times in the Vuelta a España from this side, although it is more commonly climbed from the north side, preceding a stage finish at Lagos de Covadonga.
Mirador del Fito is accessible throughout the year.

Places to see in ( Asturias - Spain ) Ribadesella Beach
Places to see in ( Asturias - Spain ) Ribadesella Beach
GUADAMÍA is famous for more than one reason, so let’s take them one by one: first of all because Guadamía is a beautiful and rather unusual beach, second of all because it belongs to 2 municipalities (LLanes and Ribadesella) and the third reason is that the cliffs surrounding this beach are truly spectacular. It happens that a lot of coves or beaches are called Portiello in Asturias, this one being the only one in Ribadesella. There are 2 more in Llanes and one in Cudillero, but again, although we saw most of the beaches and hidden coves in Asturias we surely missed some. Impossible not to.
A beach that is not a beach but a cove and a name that’s not exactly its name, how interesting is that? It’s hard to say the name of this place, it is Arbidel, Aberdil or Arvidel? That’s because in Spanish both V and B are pronounced B and so the name can be written. Arra is the last beach in the municipality of Ribadesella, running along the bottom of windswept cliffs battered by the sea, in an area where sandy beaches are nonexistent. This beach shows up on all guides and maps, being promoted by the local tourism board.
Tereñes is not a beach like all the other beaches in Ribadesella are. It does not have sand and it never had – it is a cove hidden between cliffs where dinosaurs used to spend their summer vacation long, long time ago Located in the village of Tereñes. Small cove situated to the east of the village of Ribadesella and separated from Santa Marina beach by the Corbero or Atalaya mountain, home to the hermitage of the Virgen de la Guía (The Guiding Virgin). This hermit was built on top of the cliffs and can be visited
Santa Marina is a long beach of fine sand located in the town of Ribadesella, to the left of the river Sella estuary. It’s an urban beach surrounded by a promenade considered one of the main attractions of the Eastern side of Asturias, along with the towns of Llanes and Cangas de Onís/Arriondas
Vega is the first extended beach belonging to the municipality of Ribadesella (coming from West) and one of the most popular of Asturias. It has been declared a Natural Monument because of its great botanical interest and dunes – it’s interesting cause it also contains the remains of dinosaurs footprints at its Eastern end.

Places to see in ( Asturias - Spain ) Conjunto Etnografico de Teixois
Teixois is an ethnographic ensemble in Asturias (Spain), which was opened to the public in 1980 . Teixois is a hamlet that is located 4 km from the village of Taramundi , to the southeast. In this enclave is an important group of hydraulic mills in very good state of conservation and operation, protected and well taken care of by the responsible institutions. The visitor can see all these machines in operation at the same time that he receives the pertinent technical and historical explanations that the managers and caretakers of the set offer them.
The geographical environment consists of a landscape of mountains, streams (the stream called Las Mestas is the one that drives the machines of the whole), unevenness, paths and rural roads, with the vegetation and greenery of this area.
The batanes began to be used in Spain from century XII . In the eighteenth century, in Asturias there were about 200 batanes in operation, according to data extracted from the cadastre of the Marquis de la Ensenada . Experiencing Sidra (cider) in Asturias Spain
Asturian cider is a big part of the culture, and is unique as it is the only one in the world which is poured from a height.
When I say from a height, you should watch the video below. They hold the tilted glass down low, near their thigh and the bottle way up over their head. Then they pour into the edge of the glass, but most of them don't even take a peek at the glass, they just find their way. This style helps the cider form a froth and aerates the beverage.
Apparently just the perfect degree of oxygenation is obtained and the cider is ready to drink in one generous gulp, known as a culin in cider slang. Oh and you aren't supposed to drink the entire contents of the glass. The last little bit is thrown onto the floor. Then you wait for a waiter to walk by again to pour more for you. You don't have your own waiter at your table, they all pitch in and pour away. It was a fun experience and left us wanting to try all of the Sidra houses, just to see if it was any different.

Descending Sella River in Asturias with kayak adapted
More information
In my journey through the most beautiful and accessible places of Asturias I could enjoy kayaking down the River Sella adapted.
The Asturian School of Canoeing has a special seat that can be placed on any vessel that surrounds you and allows you can enjoy paddling and safety.
They have plenty of parking spaces, extensive facilities for handicapped and bathroom with dressing room and shower adapted.
A boat access each according to their mobility, in case they have to help, the technique of armchair Queen is a good choice.
The journey to Ribadesella may be too, so along the river course there are several areas where we stop paddling and complete the activity. These areas are not suitable because they are in the country but the people of the Asturian School of Canoeing they are used so they handled the situation beautifully.
The Sella is a healthy, fun and puts you in touch with the most authentic and wild nature so we recommend it because it is a plan to have personally activity.
Thank you all for joining us on this journey.
