This is first video from my Point of view Sikkim Series. In this video, I take you through the beautiful landscapes coming on my way from Bagdogra to Gangtok.
This series is about my recent trip to Sikkim. It was a week long trip and I had covered Gangtok, Lachen, Shri Gurudongmar Lake, Lachung, Katao Valley and Yumthang Valley. I will be covering all the mentioned places in a 4 part series.
Sikkim : Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal. Part of the Himalayas, the area has a dramatic landscape that includes India’s highest mountain, 8,586m Kangchenjunga. Sikkim is also home to glaciers, alpine meadows and thousands of varieties of wildflowers. Steep paths lead to hilltop Buddhist monasteries such as Pemayangtse, which dates to the early 1700s.
Point Of view : This is a web series where I will try to cover different places in India and express my views about the place followed up with suggestions and recommendations and the view of the places from my camera :)

1.Darjeeling Himalayan Railway
The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the DHR or Toy Train, is a 2 ft narrow-gauge railway that runs between New Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal, India.
2.Savin Kingdom
Castle-themed amusement park featuring rides, entertainment, restaurants, a hotel, a pool & more.
3.Bengal Safari : North Bengal Wild Animals Park
Wild animal park offering vehicular tours to see native tigers, deer, crocodiles, birds & more.
4.Surya Sen Park
The Surya Sen Park is a park in Mahakal Pally, Siliguri, West Bengal, India. It contains a bust of freedom fighter Surya Sen, children's park and an exhibition on alternative energy in West Bengal.
5.Salugara Monastery
Salugara Monastery is among the most frequented revered places, located in the outskirts of Siliguri. Located 6 km from the city, the Buddhist shrine is visited by tourists for meditation.
6.North Bengal Science Centre
North Bengal Science Centre, Siliguri is a vibrant science centre under National Council of Science Museums, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India working for dissemination of science to all strata of society so that the benefits of scientific advancements may reach to each and everyone to ensure the development of society in true sense.
7.Madhuban park
the Madhuban Park is a magnificent park known for its sprawling lawns and lush green forest cover. Madhuban Park is situated on the outskirts of Siliguri located within the Army Cantonment area. The park also serves as a favorite family picnic.
8.jaldapara wildlife sanctuary
Jaldapara National Park is a national park situated at the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas in Alipurduar District of northern West Bengal and on the banks of the Torsa River.
9.Sevoke Kali Mandir
Sevoke Kali Mandir is located near Coronation Bridge near Siliguri, midway to Kalimpong. It is about 23 KMs from Siliguri town. Sevoke Kali Temple is very close to banks of river Teesta and has lush greenery all round. Temple is visited both by pilgrims from far off places as well as tourists and provides amazing view of mount Kanchenjunga from here as well.
10.Coronation Bridge
The Coronation Bridge, also known as the Sevoke Bridge, in Darjeeling district of West Bengal, India, spans across the Teesta River, connecting the districts of Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri. National Highway 31 runs across it.

Darjeeling is a town and municipality in the Indian State West Bengal. The place is famous for its tea gardens and Himalayan Mountain Railway which is an UNESCO World Heritage train route. It is located at an altitude of 6700 ft. Darjeeling can be an ideal weekend getaway for you if you love hill stations. Here is a weekend tour plan of Darjeeling.
Day-1
In order to go to Darjeeling 1st go to New Jalpaiguri railway station or Bagdogra airport from any part of India. From there take a car to reach Darjeeling. A local car will charge around INR 2500 for this trip. A share cab will charge Rs 200 per person. You can go to Darjeeling via kurseong or you may go to Darjeeling via tista bazaar. Here we are following the 2nd route. It will take 3 hours to reach Darjeeling via teesta bazaar. At Tista Bazar you can find local garments, spices and handmade products. You may enjoy shopping here. Here you may also enjoy beautiful view of river teesta.
On your way visit Peshok tea estate and Tukdah forest.
Upon reaching Darjeeling check in to your hotel.
In the evening you can take a walk around the Mall road.
Day-2
On day-2 early in the either go to Tiger Hill to see sunrise or if you book a good quality hotel then you can also view sunrise from your hotel room. After breakfast go for local sightseeing tour.
First visit Batasia Loop war memorial and Ghoom Monastery. Then go to visit Lamahatta. Lamahatta is a small village situated at an altitude of 5700 ft at a distance of 23 km from Darjeeling. It is a calm and quiet place famous for its natural beauty. On a clear day, mount kanchenjungha is clearly visible from this place. Spend some time in the well maintained roadside garden here. The entry fee to the park is Rs 10 per person.
From there go to visit Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park and Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. The entry fee here is Rs 60 per person.
The zoo was opened in the year 1958. It is situated at an altitude of 7,000 feet and is the largest high altitude zoo in India. It is the home of many rare species of animals like snow leopard, the endangered Himalayan wolf, white tiger and many beautiful birds. There is also one Royal Bengal tiger and a bear.
From Zoological Park go to Tenzing and Gombu Rock. It is a gigantic natural rock in Darjeeling named after Tenzing Norgay. It is used for rock climbing training by HMI.
From Tenzing rock go to visit Puttabong Tea Garden. On your way you can see famous St. Joseph’s School Darjeeling.
After visiting the Puttabong Tea Garden go to visit Japanese Temple. The two storied traditional Japanese style temple is built in the year 1972. Close to the temple there is a Peace Pagoda that showcases four avatars of Lord Buddha. From the top of the Pagoda, you can get a panoramic view of Darjeeling landscape including the Kanchenjunga range.
Day-3
On day 3 morning go for shopping in the Mall road. You may enjoy your breakfast at the famous Keventer’s Restaurant located on Neheru Road.
In the afternoon, start your journey towards NJp for departure.
