Molise Region - Italy
Molise (pronounced [moˈliːze]) is a region of Southern Italy, the second smallest of the regions. It was formerly (until 1963) part of the region of Abruzzi e Molise (with Abruzzo) and now a separate entity. The region covers 4,438 km² and has a population of about 300,000.
Molise is the newest Italian region, since it was established in 1963, when the region Abruzzi e Molise was split in two. It became effective only in 1970.
Economy
Though there is a large Fiat plant (Termoli), the industrial sector is dominated by the building industry with small and medium-sized firms spread widely throughout the region. Another important industry is food processing: pasta, meat, milk products, oil and wine are the traditional products of the region. In the services sector the most important industries are distribution, hotels and catering, followed by transport and communications, banking and insurance. With few exceptions, in all sectors firms are small, and this explains the difficulties encountered when marketing products on a national scale.[1]
After the earthquake of 2002 some of the communities in Molise became the focus of a generous government policy which contributed state money to individuals willing to make their homes more resistant to seismic activity. Larino, near Termoli, was a particular beneficiary of this policy and the town, already one of the most beautiful in the province, has been transformed. It was policy to return the houses to their historical colours and, based on careful research, the structures were painted in a range of soft pastel tones. As a result Larino has become an important centre for tourism and scores of expatriates from all over the world are returning to live in the revived centro storico (antique centre).
International tourism is becoming more evident largely as a result of the international flights from other European states, Great Britain, and North America which enter Pescara not far to the north in Abruzzo. The tourists are attracted by large expanses of unspoiled beaches, a relative lack of congestion, and the gentle pace of life.

Farm house, rustico to sell on Monte Paganuccio, Marche, Italy
Ca’Barcone is a 250sqm, very old farmhouse, made of nature stone, oak beams, old motto floor, old nun & apt roof-tiles, located in a protected nature park
General information
The first time I saw this charming rustico many years ago, I fell in love with Ca'Barcone, and when I finally was able to buy it, my love for it and the nature surrounding it, just grew. As a writer and filmmaker it is a dream, to be able to live and work here, as we are located in a Parco Naturale and at the same time the next village is only 7 min. away by car.
The access to the house is via a 400 meter long private dust road with a barrier. The road ends at the house, so there is no traffic at all.
Restoration
The concept for the restoration was, to create a simple, but very special place with a lot of charisma, that breathes and respects the spirit of the past and the nature surrounding it.
The old style original round brick pizza oven has been fully restored. The cotto floor tiles are brushed by hand and put back in place. Missing stones in the old walls have been replaced, partially with stones from an ancient quarries just behind the house, where you can still find treasures and rare stones. The roof has not been sandblasted in order to leave the old character of the house as it used to be, when the farmers still used to live in it, but it is thermally insulated. And there has not been used any cement for the roof, which you can feel, as soon as you enter the house, because the climate is natural. Outside the stonewalls are exposed and also inside some stone walls were not plastered. The old, huge fireplace is restored and is working with wood from the own forrest and/or gas.
The access to the ground level is as it used to be in old days. Instead of a fitted kitchen. you have a flexible, individual solution. The bathroom looks like a room, where you like to put a chair, as it is large and cosy, with two windows and great views.
More opportunities for changes
Open architecture. Sky windows. Two rooms, wooden floor, under the roof have been converted to one big room, connected with a bridge. Converting them back into two rooms is simple and is a matter of a day.
The ground floor could be converted into an individual apartment. It has three rooms, a very large outside living room/ dining area, a cosy terrace with 2 sides open, which could be closed and converted into jet another room. And there is a small chicken stable, untouched and in it’s original shape and form.
Outside there are open terraces and the entire outside area is ideal for setting up umbrellas, roofs, tables, chairs, couches, beds, carpets, fireplaces, candles and make it cosy in warm summer evenings and nights.

Langhe stone country house close to Alba, Piedmont Italy
FOR SALE - Ref. 471
A wonderful, fully restored country house immersed in the Langhe hills a short distance from Alba and the Barolo wine area.
With no neighbours overlooking you will enjoy total privacy here without feeling isolated from the outside world. The well thought out garden space is the perfect place to enjoy meals in the summer sun and pleasant warm evenings. (Outside space in Piedmont can be enjoyed from June to October, sometimes even longer). To the side of the house is a small field that’s a perfect plot of a swimming pool. On the side of the house is a car-port with enough parking for 2-3 cars and ample parking for around 10 cars on this side of the house.
The living space is over 2 levels in 2 sections as well as a cellar that’s currently used as a workshop but is just right for storing wine.
The ground floor has a room that can be used as a study, living room or bedroom. Next to this is the first of two stairways and a large bathroom. A long dining room leads to the kitchen and the onto the main living room - a beautiful room with vaulted ceiling and that floods with natural light. Here there’s the 2nd stairway to the first floor.
The first floor is divided into two sections. This is most useful if you’re 2 or 3 people living in the house but have many guests, as you can close this part of the house when not in use - it has a separate heating system. The right section has 2 bedrooms, one with en-suite bathroom and walk-in closet. The left section is much larger, it has a total of 3 bedrooms. One bedroom has access to the tower room bedroom, there are another bedroom and 2 bathrooms. At the far end is a beautiful living room with arched windows that has incredible views over the courtyard and surrounding hills. Take the stairs down from here and we arrive back in the long dining room.
The restoration is very high quality and everything is in great condition and presented in exceptionally good order by very proud owners.
There’s gas, water, electricity and Internet connection. The house is secure with gates at the end of the long drive and has an alarm system.
The gardens and land around the house measure approximately 8,000 sqm. On the surrounding hills are 12,000 sqm (3 acres) of hazelnut orchards and a small Dolcetto vineyard. Contact us for more information about hazelnuts, their value and the growing demand for orchards in the area. In front of the house, just below, is an old stone building that could be converted into living space.
