BAHRAICH to NANPARA Full Train journey inside YDM4 Locomotive!
The full and complete 35 kms metre gauge journey from Bahraich to Nanpara railway stations in North Eastern railways inside a YDM4 locomotive.
It was the late running 52267 Bahraich - Nepalganj Road passenger in which i was lucky to make it into the locomotive and experience the ride of the enormous chugger, the mighty YDM4. It was the IZN YDM4 6524 in LHF mode. The train departed Bahraich with a twin tone honk followed by a burst of smoke, and curved towards Nanpara. There are two stations between Bahraich and Nanpara, namely Risia and Matera. The areas after Bahraich are close to Nepal border, and the forest ranges also start showing up after Bahraich. The YDM4 puts up excellent chugging show throughout the journey. Track sleeper upgradation work can also be seen between Matera and Nanpara due to which a speed restriction of 30KMPH was imposed. Nepal is only a mere 20 kms from Nanpara, on the Nanpara Nepalganj line. After Nanpara, the metre gauge lines bifurcate, one towards left to Mailani and other towards right to Nepalganj. Bahraich and Nanpara are very beautiful places of Uttar Pradesh.

Floods hit Bahraich & Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh

Floods triggered by heavy rains in the Himalayas have inundated nearly 1,500 villages in Uttar Pradesh, killing at least 28 people and leaving thousands homeless, officials said on Sunday.
Thousands were marooned in villages across nine districts of Uttar Pradesh, where the release of water from overflowing dams in neighbouring Nepal has added to the impact of the downpours.
A lack of rain earlier in the June-September monsoon season had led to fears of drought, but this month all that has changed.
The latest heavy rains have caused landslides and floods in many parts of India and Nepal, where at least 90 people have been killed since Thursday.
At least 12 people were swept away by torrents in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, officials said. Another six perished when their boat capsized in the swollen Rapti river.
The flood situation arose following heavy downpours in Nepal, which led to overflowing rivers which originate in the Himalayan region including Tibet and Nepal, said Alok Ranjan, chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh.
More rain is forecast in Uttar Pradesh and neighbouring Uttarakhand in the Himalayas, resulting in new flood warnings.
Three army helicopters were deployed to drop food and water to the people marooned in shelters.
The state is well equipped with both manpower and resources to meet the current crises and we will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the affected people receive prompt relief, Ranjan said.

Tractor joy ride in rural Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh, abbreviated U.P., is a state located in northern India. It was created on 1 April 1937 as the United Provinces with the passing of the States Reorganisation Act and renamed Uttar Pradesh in 1950. Lucknow is the capital of Uttar Pradesh and Kanpur is the economic and industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh while the state high court is in Allahabad. On 9 November 2000, a new state, Uttarakhand, was carved from the mountainous Himalayan region of Uttar Pradesh.
The state is bordered by Rajasthan to the west, Haryana and Delhi to the northwest, Uttarakhand and the country of Nepal to the north, Bihar to the east, Jharkhand to the southeast, and Madhya Pradesh to the southwest. It covers 93,933 square miles (243,290 km2), equal to 6.88% of the total area of India, and is the fifth largest Indian state by area. With over 200 million inhabitants as of 2011, it is the most populous state in the country as well as the most populous country subdivision in the whole world. Hindi is the official and most widely spoken language in its 75 districts. Uttar Pradesh is the second largest Indian state by economy.
Uttar Pradesh was home to powerful empires of ancient and medieval India, including the Magadha, Nanda, Mauryan, Sunga, Kushan, Gupta, Gurjara, Rashtrakuta, Pala and Mughal empires. The two major rivers of the state, the Ganga and Yamuna, join at Prayag and then flow as the Ganga further east. The state has several historical, natural, and religious tourist destinations, such as the Taj Mahal, Varanasi, Piprahwa, Kaushambi, Ballia, Shravasti, Kushinagar, Lucknow, Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Allahabad, Meerut and Mathura.
Agriculture is the leading occupation in Uttar Pradesh. Wheat is the state's principal food crop and sugarcane is the main commercial crop. About 70% of India's sugar comes from Uttar Pradesh. State industries are localised in the Kanpur region, the fertile purvanchal lands and the Noida region.
