Ballycotton is a coastal village in County Cork, Ireland, situated about 25 miles east of Cork city. It is a fishing village that sits on a rocky ledge overlooking Ballycotton Bay and has a sandy beach that stretches for about 25 kilometres east to Knockadoon Head. The current village is actually a re-settlement of an older village which is now entirely underwater. Ballycotton experiences severe coastal erosion with metres of land crumbling into the sea every few years. It is a site of international research interest on coastal erosion.

The game will feature the most accurate digital representation of the RMS Titanic to date, as well as a model of the city of Southampton in 1912. Exploring Cobh While Crashing Our Drone! - Ep. 9

This episode was full of surprises! We were so excited to get some really great weather which would give us a great opportunity to visit the Ballycotton Cliffs. This turned out to be surprise number one -- because it was a holiday there were no buses headed out that way. So, we decided on a train ride out to Cobh, Ireland where we were hoping to get some good seaside drone footage. Surprise number two: the drone decided to crash itself. But the third, and best surprise was Cobh itself. We were really lucky to have such a beautiful day in such a beautiful town.

If you're looking for weekend trips or cities to see in Cork, Cobh is a great choice (just try to go when there are no cruise ships!).

Ballycotton Cliff Walk April 2016

As part of the Seafood & Shanty Ballycotton 2016 events, local history enthusiast Derry Keogh (one of our Ballycotton Island Lighthouse Tour guides) invited some culturally curious visitors on a tour of our famous Ballycotton Cliff Walk.

Derry (and guests) struck it lucky and enjoyed one of the very rare sunny days in April 2016 - Sat 9th!

The best island in all of Ireland?

Well this is it, the final paddle, and we went out on a high, and what a high. I first paddled with Matt in 2011, and we've done some amazing, memorable paddles together, and shared with others also. This little gem, lying just off the Donegal coast, is up there with any of the paddles we've done. In fact, as an easy day paddle, it is just about as perfect as one could hope for. We drove down the lane through the Golf Club on Cruitch Island, to check the sea state, and decided to have the day there, as time was already marching on, and it just looked perfectly inviting, and here are the results.

A short selfie video of myself and my other half walking round the Big Head of Kinsale in County Cork, Ireland. Stunning views of the coast line and cliffs. A nice walking and picnic area, highly recommended to visitors and tourists like us. Sightseeing at its natural best.
