Baradine is a small town in north western New South Wales, Australia. At the 2006 census, Baradine had a population of 593.Baradine is located on the Coonabarabran-Pilliga road, about midway between Coonabarabran and Pilliga. Mount Dowe is a mountain in the North West Slopes region of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of an old shield volcano that was active around 18 million years ago. With an elevation of 1,457 metres above sea level, Mount Dowe is the second highest mountain in the Nandewar Range, only being just short of Mount Kaputar, at 1,508 metres above sea level. On the mountain peak are television and radio transmitters which broadcast to locations such as Moree, Tamworth, Gunnedah and Narrabri as it provides a prime location to give television coverage to vast areas in the North West Slopes and Plains region.The summit of Mount Dowe is often 10 °C colder than the valley floor. Mount Dowe can also receive snow during winter but usually this is only a light dusting.

The Warrumbungles is a mountain range in the Orana region of New South Wales, Australia. The nearest town is Coonabarabran. The area is easiest accessed from the Newell Highway which is the major road link directly between Melbourne, Victoria and Brisbane, Queensland and cuts across inland New South Wales from the north to the south. As the range is between the moist eastern coastal zone and the dryer plains to the west, it has provided protection for flora and fauna suited to both habitats. Bundanoon, like its fellow Southern Villages of the Southern Highlands, New South Wales, has had a boom-and-bust economic cycle. The town became a well-known tourist destination early in the 20th century; its picturesqueness and the exquisite scenery of what is now Morton National Park, combined with being a stop on the CityRail railway line, made it a pleasant and convenient holiday area for city dwellers who could not afford the more expensive accommodation at the popular Blue Mountains resort area. By the 1950s, however, changes in lifestyle, particularly the affordability of the motor car, gave city dwellers more options, and Bundanoon declined.

The Sydney real estate boom of the early 21st century made Bundanoon an affordable haven within commuting distance of the City. Property values increased several-fold, and houses in Bundanoon were selling for over a million dollars by 2007. A moratorium has been placed on the construction of new subdivisions until the area's sewerage system can be upgraded.
