Keukenhof , also known as the Garden of Europe, is one of the world's largest flower gardens, situated in Lisse, South Holland, Netherlands. According to the official website for the Keukenhof Park, approximately 7 million flower bulbs are planted annually in the park, which covers an area of 32 hectares .Keukenhof is located in South Holland, south of Haarlem and southwest of Amsterdam. It is accessible by bus from the train stations of Haarlem, Leiden and Schiphol. It is located in an area called the Dune and Bulb Region . Keukenhof is open annually from mid-March to mid-May. It is approximately 55 square kilometers in area, consisting of heathlands, sand dunes, and woodlands. It is situated in the Veluwe, the area of the largest terminal moraine in the Netherlands. Most of the landscape of the park and the Veluwe was created during the last Ice Age. The alternating sand dune areas and heathlands may have been caused by human utilization of the surrounding lands. The park forms one of the largest continuous nature reserves in the Netherlands.

Duinrell is an amusement park situated in Wassenaar, Netherlands. Its main character is Rick the Frog. It also contains a caravan park and a camp-site. A variety of accommodation is also available including lodges, tents and static caravans. Bike and kart hire is available. The park has its own shop. Duinrell has been critically acclaimed for its attraction park with swimming pool , which has the longest waterslides in the Netherlands. Bicycle tour in Holland: Harriet comes to visits

Doing a bicycle tour in Holland is pretty easy - flat lands, easy access to bicycles (renting or buying them cheap second hand), and beautiful scenery - especially when its tulip season, like in the video.

We did this bicycle tour by taking the train from Amsterdam to Haarlem, renting three OV-fietse (OV bicycles) from NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen) and from there just cruising to Heemstede, Bennebroek, Hillegom and Arnoud which is pretty close to the very famous Keukenhof.

Note: We were pretty lucky to still see the tulips but it was the last weekend they were still in bloom. Renting an OV fiets is only possible if you have a yellow OV-chipkaart.

The Castle Heemstede was originally a summer retreat. It is now used as a restaurant in the area of Houten in The Netherlands.

History:
The original building was built around 1645. After a chequered past, it burned down in 1987. New owners came and went, as no one could finance the rebuilding. Finally it was sold to building company WCN, later Phanos. They started the renovation of the building that was completed in 2002
