Benzie County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2010 census, the population was 17,525. The county seat is Beulah. The county was initially set off in 1863 and organized in 1869.The name Benzie is derived from the French la rivière aux Bec-scies, the river of sawbills, bec-scie being a type of ducks. Americans altered the pronunciation of the river's name, which became known as the Betsie River. A similar alteration in pronunciation produced Benzie. At 321 square miles , Benzie County is the smallest of the 83 counties in Michigan. Benzie County is part of the Traverse City, MI Micropolitan Statistical Area.

1. Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive Empire
The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is a scenic route within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, in western Northern Michigan in the United States. The roadway, with its scenic vistas and gentle curves, is located off state highway M-109 between Empire and Glen Arbor. It runs for 7.4 miles through forest and dunes areas, providing access to scenic overlooks of the Lake Michigan shoreline and the surrounding park land. Interpretive markers along the roadway are keyed to the National Park Service's printed guide to the drive. Over 80,000 vehicles make the trip, in addition to bicyclists, hikers and skiers who use the road each year. The road was built in the 1960s and finished in 1967 by Pierce Stocking. 2. Point Betsie Lighthouse Frankfort Michigan
Point Betsie Light is located on the northeast shore of Lake Michigan — at the southern entrance to the Manitou Passage — north of Frankfort in Benzie County in Northern Michigan. Construction began in 1854, but it was not completed until 1858, and began service in the shipping season of 1859. The lighthouse cost $5,000 to build. In 1875, a life saving station was built for $3,000.

4. Cana Island Lighthouse Baileys Harbor
The Cana Island lighthouse is a lighthouse located just north of Baileys Harbor in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. Currently used as an active navigational aid under the jurisdiction of the United States Coast Guard and a museum, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, as reference #76000201. This lighthouse, along with the Baileys Harbor Range Lights, was built to replace the Baileys Harbor Lighthouse in 1869, and was first lit in 1870. The lighthouse and keeper's quarters are open to tour by the Door County Maritime Museum.

Most Beautiful Place in America - ABC Good Morning America

Benzie County - Michigan was voted the Most Beautiful Place in America by Viewers of ABC's Good Morning America. These are the most interesting and beautiful views from our father and son cycling/camping trip. 4 days, 60 miles of riding with my 5 years old boy.
This area is absolutely beautiful... IT'S REALLY QUIET, not many people or traffic even during weekends. A lot of wildlife including black bears, and a lot of attractions for everyone.

Let's Visit Frankfort, MI

In this video, I check out Frankfort, MI located on Lake Michigan. I check out a little of the downtown area as well as the shoreline along Lake Michigan including the Frankfort North Breakwater Lighthouse. Along here is where the Betsie River empties into the lake. At the end of the video, I check out the scenic overlook along M-22 near the Benzie/Manistee county border where a very nice view of Lake Michigan can be seen.

Capri Drive-In 50th Anniversary | Pure Michigan

The Capri Drive-In is located on US-12, just west of downtown Coldwater in Southwest Michigan. Some of you folks may remember that US-12 was once the main route from Detroit to Chicago, with Coldwater acting as the halfway point. There are many classic sites to see along the way, none more beautiful than the Capri Drive-In, which was built and opened by John (Sr.) and Mary Magocs in the summer of 1964.

Camping in Michigan: D.H. Day Campground

Jeanette and I take a two day camping trip to D.H Day campground in Glen Arbor, Michigan. A rustic campground on lake Michigan with private campsites and easy beach access. It was clean, the staff was helpful and friendly, the beach wasn't crowded and the campground was peaceful. It is next to the Sleeping Bear Dunes and has a town nearby. There is a lot to do in the area. We didn't have an issue with bugs at our campsite but the beach had biting flies. There is poison ivy and there are black bear in the area. Definitely a place worth visiting.

Bayfront Park - Petoskey, MI

This former industrial site was reclaimed as a linear park featuring 7800 feet of public shoreline on scenic Little Traverse Bay. The park features various facilities and amenities. It is well maintained and provides varied uses for Petoskey residents. It is considered one of the “treasures” of the Petoskey park system and Emmet County. Bay Front Park is easily accessed to and from downtown via a pedestrian tunnel.
