Bernate Ticino is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Milan in the northern Italian region Lombardy, located about 25 kilometres west of Milan. Bernate Ticino borders the following municipalities: Cuggiono, Galliate, Mesero, Marcallo con Casone, Romentino, Boffalora sopra Ticino, Trecate. In 2005 a small Roman necropolis, including 12 tombs, has been found in Bernate's territory.

Lake Orta is a lake in northern Italy, west of Lake Maggiore. It has been so named since the 16th century, but was previously called the Lago di San Giulio, after Saint Julius , the patron saint of the region. Its southern end is about 35 kilometres by rail, to the northwest of Novara on the main Turin-Milan line, while its north end is about 6 kilometres by rail south of the Gravellona-Toce railway station, halfway between Ornavasso and Omegna. Its scenery is characteristically Italian, while the San Giulio island has some very picturesque buildings, and takes its name from the local saint, who lived in the 4th century. What lies behind a sport that is a combination of strength and courage?

Bouldering is a sports discipline that in recent years has acquired growing importance even in the Canton of Ticino.
Without the use of safety ropes, boulderers climb up boulders of various sizes; the only protection in case of a fall is represented by spotters (friends that direct the climber's body and protect it) and bouldering mats (crash pads) placed on the ground under the route. A greater sense of security, being closer to the ground and consequently the favourable psychological conditions cause the boulder climber to overcome technical difficulties that would otherwise be considered impossible at greater heights.

Ticino is one of the most interesting places in the world to practice this sport. Cresciano, Chironico, the Gotthard Pass, the Verzasca Valley and the Bavona Valley are annually visited by thousand of boulderers coming from all over Switzerland, from nearby Italy and the rest of Europe. World-class boulder climbers have regularly visited Ticinese locations conquering some of the most difficult and famous boulder routes in the world.

Partendo dal Ponte di Ferro si costeggia la sponda del Ticino per poi addentrarsi nella vegetazione che porta fino al canale Turbighetto. Attraversato il ponticello, dove si trova un piccolo casolare abbandonato, si arriva al Ponte Tibetano. Una struttura in acciao e legno, sospesa a 8 metri di altezza e lunga 70, che permette di oltrepassare il canale scaricatore della Centrale Termoelettrica ENEL di Turbigo e di raggiungere il punto d'arrivo: Localita' Tre Salti
