Antietam National Battlefield is a National Park Service protected area along Antietam Creek in Sharpsburg, Washington County, northwestern Maryland. It commemorates the American Civil War Battle of Antietam that occurred on September 17, 1862. The area, situated on fields among the Appalachian foothills near the Potomac River, features the battlefield site and visitor center, a national military cemetery, stone arch Burnside's Bridge and a field hospital museum.

John Brown's raid on Harpers Ferry was an effort by armed abolitionist John Brown to initiate an armed slave revolt in 1859 by taking over a United States arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia. Brown's party of 22 was defeated by a company of U.S. Marines, led by First Lieutenant Israel Greene. Colonel Robert E. Lee was in overall command of the operation to retake the arsenal. John Brown had originally asked Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass, both of whom he had met in his transformative years as an abolitionist in Springfield, Massachusetts, to join him in his raid, but Tubman was prevented by illness and Douglass declined, as he believed Brown's plan would fail.

Skyline Drive is a 105-mile road that runs the entire length of the National Park Service's Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, generally along the ridge of the mountains. The drive's northern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Route 340 near Front Royal, and the southern terminus is at an interchange with US 250 near Interstate 64 in Rockfish Gap, where the road continues south as the Blue Ridge Parkway. The road has intermediate interchanges with US 211 in Thornton Gap and US 33 in Swift Run Gap. Skyline Drive is part of Virginia State Route 48, which also includes the Virginia portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway, but this designation is not signed. West Virginia 2016 US 250 South Hundred to Fairmont

Wheeling to Fairmont part 3 of 3, finally able to get around the slower moving traffic as we approached Hundred, we are able to drive the posted speed and enjoy some the windy bits between Hundred and Fairmont, This section of US 250 goes through Mannington, where we have stopped to watch the fireworks on past Independence Days. We will head back to Mannington after we check in to our hotel and watch them again this year.

A short video and some stills for fans of Harpers Ferry and the Historic District and Park there. Taken a few days after the historic snowstorms of February 2010 dropped more than three feet of snow in many parts of the U.S. Mid-Atlantic region. The National Park Service did a great job of plowing and shoveling in the area but very few people were visiting this day.
