United States Steel (ex- B&LE) F7 No. 724 near South Pass City, Wyoming -- with calf
I had heard that this iron ore railroad was closing down operations sometime around 1983, so I marked it as one of the places I wanted to visit on my vacation in September of that year.
I was disappointed that I did not catch an ore train -- I don't even know if any were still running by then -- but what happened at the end of this video with the encounter with a single calf made it worth the trip. Apparently this calf not only thought the grass was greener on the other side . . . of the tracks, but was willing to risk his life and make a last second dash for it. After all, who knows when another opportunity may come along. There are a lot of automobile drivers out there who must think the same thing, unfortunately.
Abandoned Funeral Home - Found Coffins, Hearse, and Baby Caskets
On this explore, Fran and I are driving far away from home to visit our very first abandoned funeral home. Our friend told us if we were ever in this area to stop by & we are sure glad we did. Though very much decayed, this funeral home is still full of many forgotten surprises. The garages have old caskets stacked up and also a vintage hearse. There are more caskets inside and a rotting embalming room (unfortunately no embalming medical table). It was such a creepy explore but so worth the trip!

Black River Harbor Recreation Area, MI
One of the Top Ten Most Beautiful Locations in the US
Black River Harbor is one of the Top Ten most beautiful places in the United States. Plenty of nice sites. A beautiful harbor on Lake Superior surrounded with by a cornucopia of natural beauty. Five named waterfalls that are simply amazing, each awe inspiring along with several hidden un-named falls that anywhere else would be named and a major attraction. Together in such a short span of river makes the place the best place to see waterfalls in the US. Harbor features a beautiful suspension bridge, gorgeous picnic ground, amazing examples of Civilian Conservation Corps architecture and perhaps the most beautiful beach on the great lakes. Short drive from Copper Peak, where you can see three states and Canada. Needs to be on everyone's bucket list.

Reportedly, ghosts in Confederate and Union uniforms can be seen in the cemetery. According to a CNN report, a man wearing a Confederate army hat is frequently seen here. Abandoned Funeral Home with Caskets Everywhere - Found Hearse!
On this explore, Fran, our friend Jason, and I head out to explore and abandoned funeral home. This one has definitely been on my list for quite some time since I've seen Jason's posts. It's become pretty trashed over the years and houses a lot of homeless so the smell was pretty intense and the whole explore was sketchy because of how decaying the place is. But surprisingly there is still a lot of stuff left behind like caskets, a hearse, an embalming bed, and so much more. Surprisingly the lights still turn on in various parts of the place like the chapel. It was a quick explore but am definitely excited to be able to check this one off my list!
