The Battle of Bezzecca was fought on 21 July 1866 between Italy and Austria, in the course of the Third Italian Independence War. The Italian force, the Hunters of the Alps, were led by Giuseppe Garibaldi, and had invaded Trentino as part of the general Italian offensive against the Austrian force occupying north-eastern Italy after the decisive Prussian victory of Battle of Königgrätz, which had led Austria to move part of their troops towards Vienna . Lago di Tenno is a lake at Tenno in Trentino, Italy. At an elevation of 550 m, its surface area is 2.5 km². The lake was formed around the year 1100 following a large landslide that blocked the course of the river Rì Sec, which is currently the main tributary of the lake. In the southern portion of the lake there is a small island. The level of the lake varies over the years depending on the flow rate of the tributaries. In the years when the level is low this island becomes a kind of promontory. This area is protected by the Autonomous Province of Trento as a biotope.

Hidden Waterfalls near Venice - Escape the Tourists! // Travel Italy Guide

This national park is the perfect place to get away from all the tourists. Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park is a secluded gem filled with waterfalls and rock pools that apparently only the locals know about. It's only a couple of hours away from Venice so I would HIGHLY recommend ditching the crowded city if you have a car.

We were practically alone for the first half of the day until an Italian family arrived with their dog. Such a cute doggo too!

The Toce Waterfall is the second highest waterfall in Europe with a 143 meter single drop and a 60 meter width.

At the top there is an observation point from where you can admire its full splendour. This wooden support leans out over the fall
Also at the top of the waterfall there is a famous hotel built in 1923 in Deco style by the famous architect Piero Portaluppi.

The Cascata delle Marmore (Marmore's Falls) is a man-made waterfall created by the ancient Romans. Its total height is 165 m (541 feet), making it one of the tallest in Italy and the tallest man-made waterfall in the world. Of its 3 sections, the top one is the tallest, at 83 m (272 feet).

It is located 7.7 km from Terni, a provincial capital of the Italian region of Umbria.

Its source is a portion of the waters of the river Velino (the rest of the river flows into a hydroelectric power plant), after flowing through Piediluco lake near the community of Marmore. It pours into the valley below formed by the river Nera. Its flow is turned on and off according to a published schedule, to satisfy the needs of tourists and the power company alike.
