    Bixby Creek Bridge, also known as Bixby Canyon Bridge, on the Big Sur coast of California, is one of the most photographed bridges in California due to its aesthetic design, graceful architecture and magnificent setting. It is a reinforced concrete open-spandrel arch bridge. The bridge is 120 miles south of San Francisco and 13 miles south of Carmel in Monterey County along State Route 1. Prior to the opening of the bridge in 1932, residents of the Big Sur area were virtually cut off during winter due to the often impassable Old Coast Road that led 11 miles inland. At its completion, the bridge was built under budget for $199,861 and at 360 feet was the longest concrete arch span on the California State Highway System.     New Camaldoli Hermitage is a rural Camaldolese Benedictine hermitage in the Santa Lucia Mountains of Big Sur, California, in the United States. The Camaldolese branch of the Benedictine family was founded by St. Romuald in the late 10th century. The hermitage was founded in 1958 by two monks from the motherhouse in Camaldoli in northern Italy, who had spent two years searching for a site that combined solitude and natural beauty. It is located at an altitude of approximately 1,300 feet , and is approached by a winding two-mile road, which gives the visitor a clear view of the landscape.
