A FEEL FOR... Vorarlberg - Austria's biggest secret
It may be the smallest region in Austria but Vorarlberg could be the country's biggest secret.
It may not be as well known as Salzburg, its mountains not quite as famous as Tirol’s, but perhaps that is part of Vorarlberg’s attraction. It has an abundance of natural attractions, incredible farm to table food, and luxury hotels.
You can get a taste for Vorarlberg in our travel guide here: It includes its nature and culture, some of the best towns in the region, plus things to do in Vorarlberg, and accommodation there. Furthermore, don’t forget to save our map of all the locations we’ve mentioned here to your phone for use when putting together your own Vorarlberg travel itinerary.

Austrian pearl: Schafberg Schafbergspitze SchafbergBahn
Support our channel :
The SchafbergBahn is the steepest cog railway in Austria. Since 1893 mighty steam locomotives have powered their way from the lake-side base station at St. Wolfgang to the 1783 m high summit of the Schafberg. The SchafbergBahn allows every visitor to conquer the mountain in comfort and style, making the entire journey an unforgettable experience!
Once at the top, magnificent Alpine views and warm Austrian hospitality beckon. Visit the Hotel Schafbergspitze, Austria‘s oldest mountain inn, originally dating from 1862! From the top you may see numerous Alpine lakes and the Dachstein glacier.
The journey to the summit of the Schafberg starts at the lake- side base station St. Wolfgang. After a few minutes, the track crosses the provincial border between Salzburg and Upper Austria and then continues its steep ascent through lush fields and green forests.
