Geologic Formations at Beartown State Park, WV 2-19-17
Beartown State Park is a 110 acre nature preserve located on the eastern slopes of Droop Mountain in Greenbrier and Pocahontas Counties, West Virginia. The nearest town is Hillsboro, WV. The massive boulders within the preserve are truly amazing and I consider it a must see if you ever find yourself in West Virginia's portion of the Allegheny Mountain range. This place is the closest thing that I've seen to the Great Channels of Virginia. The hike/walk is an easy stroll on a well constructed boardwalk. We rate this trail 1 out of 5 Billygoats. In summation all I have left to say is WOW! For more information click here: Thanks for watching!
Fayetteville, West Virginia - The coolest small town.
Almost heaven, West Virginia
Blue Ridge Mountains
Shenandoah River -
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin' like a breeze
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
All my memories gathered 'round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
I hear her voice
In the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road I get a feelin'
That I should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
West Virginia, mountain momma
Take me home, country roads
Take me home, now country roads
Take me home, now country roads
Raleigh County
The business hub of Southern WV, surrounded by stretches of scenic terrain and outdoor activity. What is there to explore in Raleigh County, Southern West Virginia?
The sprawling mini-city of Beckley serves as a central access point to state culture and the surrounding landscape. The metro area showcases the highlights of WV heritage, from the premier artisan crafting studios and shops at Tamarack that demonstrate the best of Appalachian crafting to the exhibition coal mine that extends deep into the reaches of the mountain underbelly and exposes the historic industry that shaped the state's economy.
And from this hub, you can head out into the open mountain ranges, lakesides and river adventures. The surrounding Little Beaver State Park, Lake Stephens and Grandview offer some of the most stunning scapes of the Mountain State, all a stone's throw from the city.
Philippi Covered Bridge, WV
07.18.09 - The Philippi Covered Bridge, spanning the Tygart River in WV, is the longest two-lane covered bridge still in use on a federal highway. The bridge was seized by union troops and used as a barracks during the first land battle of the Civil War on June 3, 1861. The war's first amputation was performed here. Wonderful history surrounds it. Notice the museum on the other side of bridge. Fantastic display of items and the woman there will tell you stories forever! This is also the location of two mummies from the late 1800s which also have quite a story! When you see bridge from the side down the river, notice how small the pick up truck below it at the water's edge looks in comparison!
Ancient civilization and ruins in southern WV? Pinnacle Rock part 2
Last year, I took pictures of Pinnacle rock. This time we will explore Black Rock, Turkey Rock and Bramwell Lake. These rocks are off the beaten trail but are still part of the whole Pinnacle Rock State Park. Strange that no one has ever questioned this as something that could possibly be manmade.
