Búðir is a small hamlet in Búðahraun lava fields in Staðarsveit, which is in the western region of Iceland, on the westernmost tip of the Snaefellsnes peninsula where Hraunhafnará falls to the sea, the original old name of Búðir having been Hraunhöfn. The name of the mountain is actually Snæfell, but it is normally called Snæfellsjökull to distinguish it from two other mountains with this name. It is situated on the most western part of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland. Sometimes it may be seen from the city of Reykjavík over Faxa Bay, at a distance of 120 km. The mountain is one of the most famous sites of Iceland, primarily due to the novel Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne, in which the protagonists find the entrance to a passage leading to the center of the earth on Snæfellsjökull. Iceland A Photographers Dream

This summer my neighbor and I took a photographic excursion to Iceland. We were interested in photographing the stunning landscape that the island had to offer. Six months prior to the trip I had done so much research on the island that I think I was oversaturated with information. There seems to be a three month window in the summer, June, July, August, that the temperature is most tolerable and desirable for photography. This is also the most expensive time to visit . Camper vans are at a premium because tourists from everywhere descend on the island. There is a nice road that circles the island called the ring road. A lot of the stunning beauty of the Island can be found on the south side but we ended up circling the whole island with the 12 days we had. I've put together just a few of the images that are my favorites. If you ever have the chance I would highly recommend this gorgeous landscape to anybody. With Icelandic Air you can stay for up to seven nights at no additional airfare on a flight from North America to Europe or visa versa.

In this episode, I explain how to find and photograph Svartifoss, which is a beautiful waterfall located in Skaftafell National park the south-eastern Iceland. It is known for its basalt rock walls and is a famous travel and landscape photography location.
