Explore Canada : The Pretty and Natural Burnaby City (HD)
On the west coast of Canada, Vancouver, British Columbia is known for its comfortable climate and beautiful scenery and has been ranked repeatedly as one of the most livable cities in the world.
In fact, Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, is also a tourist destination and a great place for people to relax. It's not only metropolitan, but it also retains Canadians' characteristic love of Mother Nature. Lakes and green space are preserved in their original forms. People also use special ways to perfectly preserve Canada's hundred-year-old history.

Downtown Burnaby BC Canada - Driving in the City on Kingsway - Metrotown
We are driving on Kingsway in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada.
Once we get past 7:17 we are entering the downtown area of Burnaby. Umm... there's some good shopping at Metrotown and some reasonably priced restaurants in this area. Also, there are some condos/apartments being built around here, guaranteed to go up in price over the years.

Horseshoe Bay to Burnaby: Then and Now (1966 & 2017)
The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has been providing some amazing film footage of BC's highways from 1966, including the drive from Horseshoe Bay (West Vancouver) to New Burnaby. Thanks to them for making this footage available for us to enjoy.
I thought it would be fun project to shoot the same route in 2017, and highlight the differences between 'then and now'. So, I created a side by side view showing a comparison of the route, about 51 years later years later.
Some notes:
- The 2017 video was shot on November 4, 2017.
- The 1966 video is unedited, however small sections of the 2017 video have been cut (mostly due to so much traffic slowing down the drive).
- I did my best to sync the video wherever possible using landmarks and road alignments (bridges, streets, buildings, etc) as freeze frames, allowing for a great visual comparison of the old and new footage. The speed of the video varies throughout, slowing down for our landmarks.
- If you wish, you can slow down by clicking on the gear shaped icon in the bottom right corner of the video screen, then click “Speed” and choose your desired speed.
