Cabrales is a municipality in the autonomous community of Asturias, northwestern Spain. It is situated between the Sierra de Cuera and the Picos de Europa, and is a region famous for its Cabrales cheese. Important towns within the municipality include Arenas de Cabrales, one of the primary objectives of the Battle of El Mazuco in 1937. Nowadays Arenas' economy seems to be primarily based on tourism, although unlike many tourist centres it retains its authentic style – and hospitality.

The Cares is a river in Northern Spain that flows through the autonomous communities of Asturias and León until it joins the Deva River and flows into the Atlantic Ocean at the Bay of Biscay. It forms the Tina Mayor estuary, the natural border between Asturias and Cantabria. The Cares is known because of the narrow and spectacular canyon it forms when passing the Picos de Europa. A trekking path, Ruta del Cares, runs along the river. The stream is also known for the quality of its salmon. The Cares river is joined by de Deva river. Many companies rent kayaks to descend both rivers. Kayaking is popular here during the summer.

The Cares Trail or Ruta del Cares is one of the most popular treking paths within the Picos de Europa, the route is situated between the province of León and Asturias, in Spain. It runs from the Asturian village of Puente Poncebos to Posada de Valdeón through Caín in Leon along the Cares Canyon. In the old times, the route was the only way to reach both towns during the snow seasons in the winter.

She is the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and the Roots & Shoots programme, and she has worked extensively on conservation and animal welfare issues. She has served on the board of the Nonhuman Rights Project since its founding in 1996. In April 2002, she was named a UN Messenger of Peace.

Potes puerta a los Picos de Europa | Cantabria #4

El municipio de Potes esta constituido por la villa de Potes y su barrio de Rases. A pesar de ser el municipio más pequeño de la comarca de Liébana es la capital del conjunto de la Merindad.
Potes está en el corazón de la comarca lebaniega, lugar de confluencia de los valles de Valdebaró, Valdeprado, Cereceda y La Hermida. La mayor parte del territorio municipal presenta importantes pendientes, con el majestuoso telón de fondo de los Picos de Europa, y sólo aparece una franja llana entre los ríos Deva y Quiviesa. Al abrigo de un microclima de rasgos mediterráneos surge en las laderas bajas un paisaje de huertas y frutales.

Café de Joey - Avilés

Joey's cafe in Aviles Spain is a great place for American style breakfasts, Tapas (light food), sandwiches, hamburgers, salads, all kinds of coffee and chocolate drinks, desserts, pastries and every kind of adult beverage. JB with a splash coke is called the Nacho Special - be sure to ask for it by name.

The service is great, the owners Joey and Isabel are as kind and sweet as you will ever meet anywere in the world.

So, visit Cafe de Joey (16 calle de Camara) when you are in Aviles Asturias Spain, the cafe is just down the street from the Plaza de Espana in the center of the historic downtown.
