They occupy the whole centre of County Wicklow and stretch outside its borders into Counties Dublin, Wexford and Carlow. The mountains are primarily composed of granite surrounded by an envelope of mica-schist and much older rocks such as quartzite. They were pushed up during the Caledonian orogeny at the start of the Devonian period and form part of the Leinster Chain, the largest continuous area of granite in Ireland and Britain. 5. Wells House & GardensGorey Wells House and Gardens is a Victorian tudor gothic country house museum, located around 7 km outside of Kilmuckridge, County Wexford. It was designed by Daniel Robertson in the 1830s. It was opened to the general public in July 2012 and is the most visited attraction in the county of Wexford, being named Ireland's Best Family Day Out by Today FM in 2015. The house has extensive gardens, an animal farm, a cafe and a children's playground. Archery and falconry are also practised. It is found on the R741 road, near the small village of Ballyedmond and about 18 km south of Gorey. It features as a suggested stop on the Ireland's Ancient East touring area. Open till late, Pirates Cove has an adventure golf course that is unique within with magnificent greens, caves, rivers, tropical gardens and of course, a Pirates Ship.
It is also the location for Wexfords only computerised Ten-Pin Bowling Centre. Also at Pirates Cove you will find Fun Caves which are designed for three to ten year olds.
The play area is completely padded for safety. Other attractions at Pirates Cove include large-scale radio controlled models of trucks, safari cars and pirate ships, which are fully interactive and will be enjoyed by both younger and older children and just recently Go Karting has been added to Pirates Coves list of attractions.
There is also a coffee shop which overlooks the Golf Course. The menu consists of a variety of tasty snacks to suit the whole family.
