La Maddalena e' un comune italiano di 11 233 abitanti della provincia di Sassari, costituito dall'arcipelago omonimo con le seguenti isole principali: Maddalena (20,1 km²), Caprera (15,7 km²), Santo Stefano (3 km²), Spargi (4,20 km²), Budelli (1,60 km²), Santa Maria (2 km²), Razzoli (1,5 km²); e altre piccole isole come: Giardinelli (0,80 km²), Mortorio (0,60 km²), Chiesa (0,10 km²), Spargiotto (0,098 km²), più altri isolotti minori. La città di La Maddalena (titolo che risale al 1948) iniziata a popolarsi attorno al 1770, sorge a sud dell'isola principale e si affaccia verso Palau. La Maddalena e l'intero arcipelago sono compresi all'interno del Parco Nazionale dell'Arcipelago di La Maddalena, un'area protetta marina e terrestre di interesse nazionale e comunitario. Rinomata località turistica, ha nel suo territorio molte spiagge, come la celebre Spiaggia Rosa, arenile a massima protezione ambientale situato a nord ovest dell'Arcipelago nell'isola di Budelli, famosa per essere stata il set del film Il deserto rosso di Michelangelo Antonioni.L'arcipelago è noto anche per essere stato l'ultima dimora dell'Eroe dei Due Mondi Giuseppe Garibaldi che costruì, a Caprera la famosa Casa bianca, oggi casa Museo aperta al pubblico e dove si può visitare la tomba dove riposa.ENdemisroussosmyfriendthewind43738-ka
