2. Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas Caracas
The University City of Caracas is the main Campus of the Central University of Venezuela. It was designed by the Venezuelan architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000. The Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas is considered a 'Masterpiece 'of architecture and urban planning and is the only university campus designed by a single architect in the 20th century that has received such recognition by UNESCO. The Campus and buildings of the Universidad Central de Venezuela are considered to be Villanueva's masterwork. 4. Casa Natal & Museo Bolivar Caracas
The Birthplace of Simón Bolívar is a seventeenth-century house in the Venezuelan capital city Caracas where the hero of Venezuelan and Latin American independence, Simón Bolívar, was born. Now a significant tourist attraction, the building is located in a little street off the Plaza San Jacinto, a block east of the Plaza Bolívar. It is one of only a few houses from the colonial era which survive in central Caracas. One of the adjacent buildings serves as a Bolivarian museum . The birthplace and museum together present memorabilia connected with Bolivar and the Venezuelan War of Independence, along with weapons and furniture of that period.

6. Panteon Nacional Caracas
The National Pantheon of Venezuela is a final resting place for national heroes. The Pantheon was created in the 1870s on the site of a ruined church on the northern edge of the old town of Caracas, Venezuela. The entire central nave is dedicated to Simón Bolívar, with the altar's place taken by the hero's bronze sarcophagus, while lesser luminaries are relegated to the aisles. The national pantheon's vault is covered with 1930s paintings depicting scenes from Bolívar's life, and the huge crystal chandelier glittering overhead was installed in 1883 on the centennial of his birth. The Pantheon was reopened in 2013 after a 3 year long process of expansion and restoration.

9. Museo de Bellas Artes Caracas
The Museum of Fine Arts is an art museum in Caracas, Venezuela. It was founded in 1917, and was originally housed in the building now known as the Palacio de las Academias. Its current buildings were both designed by architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva, a 1930s neoclassical structure and a 1970s brutalist structure. In the 1970s the Museum moved out of the neoclassical building to provide a home for the newly established National Art Gallery. It has reoccupied this space since the inauguration of a new building for the National Art Gallery in 2009.

Iglesia de San Francisco is a church in Caracas, Venezuela. Dedicated to Francis of Assisi, it was built in 1593 under the design of Antonio Ruiz Ullán as an annex of the Convent of San Francisco . The church is notable as being the situ where Simón Bolívar received the title El Libertador . His funeral occurred here in 1842.

12. Centro San Ignacio Caracas
Centro San Ignacio is a Venezuelan shopping mall and office complex which opened in September 1998. It won recognition for Latin American contemporary architecture with the Mies van der Rohe Award that year. The mall is in La Castellana in the Chacao area of Caracas. It was built on athletic fields next to San Ignacio Jesuit College from early 1993 to late 1998, and is managed by the Fondo de Valores Inmobiliarios.

The Lost World - Caracas
Caracas is a city with a population over three million, crammed into a valley in northern Venezuela. Over 2000-2010, Venezuela's oil revenues did not compensate for mismanagement of the city. The city's infrastructure deteriorated and Caracas residents are increasingly entrenched in slum areas. As of 2011, there was still no clear plan regarding how crime, poverty and severe traffic problems could be eradicated from the city.The city of Caracas receives preferential treatment in Venezuela's economy, as Venezuela's oil-generated revenues are used to subsidise the city's development. Caracas' population growth is driven entirely by natural increase, as the city is too packed to accommodate further immigration. Housing in Caracas accounts for a relatively small share of the household budget but for damaging reasons. The majority of dwellings in the city are located in the slum areas, which are cheap.

The video highlights some of the popular landmark attractions. The trip took place in November 2013, before the early 2014 riots, protests, deaths that is currently happening not just in Caracas, but in multiple cities in Venezuela. Places that I've visited in the city, will never look the same.
