Take a tour of Chan Chan Ruins in Peru -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Chan Chan was the once vast capital of the industrious and innovative Chimu Empire.
Dating back to the 1st century, the Chimu Empire stood strong until the mid 15th century when they were conquered by the Incas.
Unfortunately, most of this capital city has been destroyed by both man and nature over time.
The most well preserved structure of Chan Chan is the Tschudi Palace which housed the Chimu Empire's nobles.
The exquisite craftsmanship that went into these adobe structures is a testament to its once thriving population.
From certain vantage points, one can see the miles of ruins that stretch out over the Peruvian plain.

The Pyramids Of Caral Peru are about as old as the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. There are several pyramids in Caral - some of which are under excavation - and some of which have not even been touched. Perhaps there are even a few they have not found yet still buried beneath the desert sand and rock. There was also a river valley - which is lush and green not too far from the pyramids, reminding me of pictures of the nile delta in Egypt.

caral La plus ancienne ville des Amériques - Pérou
Située à 23 km de la côte, au nord de Lima. Cette ville a été identifiée par les archéologues comme la plus vieille ville des Amériques, la première preuve de sédentarité au Pérou (3000 et 1800 avant J.-C.).
Caral, de la civilisation du même nom, a été fondée il y a 5000 ans. Cette cité, inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 2009, a été découverte en 1994.
Les experts jugent qu'environ 40 % du site a été excavé à ce jour : six pyramides trapézoïdales, six secteurs résidentiels, trois temples et deux places publiques, ensevelis par le sable de la côte désertique soufflé dans cette vallée pendant des siècles.
