Found Paradise in Islas de Gigantes | BEST VIDEO SO FAR | Philippines | Panay | Carles
Simply: WAUW! Islas de Gigantes is a little paradise! It has some vibes of El Nido and Coron, but it's far less discovered. In this video I'll show you everything :) Featuring a land tour in Gigantes Norte and the island hopping tour in Gigantes Sur.

--WHAT TO SEE IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
We did two tours. The tour over land and the island hopping tour.
► Land tour
We’ve mainly seen two places:
- The old lighthouse
- Bakwitan Cave
Both are places you can hang around for a long time! It made up for a good daytrip. NOTE if you want to get all the way through in Bakwitan Cave (it’s quite big) you need to be prepaired. Good shoes and flashlight. There are some narrow passways. Otherwise just do like me and return halfway to the same entrance you entered!
► Island hopping
We arranged this through our resort. It’s one of the highlights of Islas de Gigantes.
Main attractions are around Gigantes Sur (the southern island)
We saw:
- Little Boracay or Mini Boracay or actually Tinagong Dagat. Fine sand and clear blue water
- Antonia beach (great for lunch and snorkeling)
- Salt water lagoon Tangke (fly the drone if you dare! Or swim in the shallow water)
- Cabugao Gamay Island (take a picture and enjoy the view. The most famous spot of the whole tour)
- Sandbar! Last in our tour, and a good way to end! Make sure you walk a bit over the entire island, it’s nice!
--WHERE TO SLEEP IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
Most resorts are in Isla de Gigantes Norte. It’s not the fancy resorts, but basic ones with good facilities. You can get food inside as well. There are more luxury resorts popping up. I am curious what this place will look like in a few years time!
► Rosewood resort:
--WHERE TO EAT IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
We only ate at one place, in our resort. They had amazing scallops and other seafood! Or bbq pork, you name it. Not expensive and very tasty! NOTE that you have to bring your own lunch if you’re going island hopping!

--BOHOL—
► Sleep at Guindulman Bay Tourist Inn:
Go see:
► Waterfalls of Candijay (can-umantad falls)
► Rice fields of Candijay
► Lamanok island tour
► Hike behind the hotel and see the amazing valley! Just walk the road inland from Guindulman bay tourist inn for 20 minutes or so!
--LINAPACAN--
I did my tour with Buhay Isla!
--PORT BARTON--
►Hotel: I honestly think there are so many new places, I do not dare to make a recommendation!
►Tours: Jeremy & Jake tours is the one I’d recommend! Did you know I made and organize their FB page? Just a fun fact! I made it cause I really believe in them!
--SIARGAO--
There are multiple hotels I can recommend.
►Surfing Carabao:
My favorite!
►Ocean 101:
►Kawili: (also for food)
►Tourcompany I used and recommend is My Siargao Guide (book with them through Bravo resort).
Other places to check out (especially if you rent your own bike):
►Pacifico, long drive but popular surf spot and beach
►Magpungko Rock pool, which is apparently very stunning when the sun is out!
►Tayangban Cave Pool
►Tak tak waterfall
--SIQUIJOR--
►Hotel: Garden Bungalows resort (loved it!)
►Tours I booked through the hotel. Though I would recommend getting a motorcycle and find the waterfalls, beaches and good spots all yourself!
--SIPALAY—
► Sleep in Takatuka resort (featured in the video):
►Take a tour to Danjugan Island (arranged by hotel)
►Tour the main attractions of Sipalay itself (1000 pesos half a day or 1500 whole day). Excluding fees along the way.
Including Perth resort (infinity pool), the cave, one more resort and special places along the way.
You can arrange this tour with Roland Dequina – rolandtours.wordpress.com or 09489358749
--BATANES—
Visit Sabtang, Batan and Itbayat.
►Batan hotel: Nanay cita’s Homestay:
►Sabtang hotel: ask to stay at the lighthouse!
►Itbayat: arrive and ask for the mayor or miss Cano (when I was there these were the only homestays)
►Tours Batan: there is a northern and a southern tour on Batan. Do both of them! You can fit them in 1 day but rather take 2.
►Tours Itbayat: do the general island tour but ALSO the sunrise tour! That one is the BEST!
►Sabtang: go for the standard half a day tour or sleep at the island and take the extended tour! :D Both are good, it depends on how much time you have.
--ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
No recommendings for hotels. For tours: do the island tour for sure! It’s the best out here, and very close to each other.
Also go for the caves and lighthouse if you have time to spare, otherwise just stick to the islands.
--SIBALTAN (EL NIDO)—
►Sleep in Tapik Beach:
You can do all the tours in El Nido from here, just ask at the resort. Also I’d recommend to do an island tour around Sibaltan, ask for the good corals! Mangrove tour is nice, only if you have time to spare.
--CORON—
Not found a specific hotel I can recommend here.
DEFINITELY do the ULTIMATE island tour! You’ll see the lakes and good corals, the shipwrecks and the islands. If you do Buhay Isla or an other Linapacan tour, ask what they already cover cause there might be overlap here.
Climb mount Dalara if you’re done with islands

Dauin | Dumaguete | Negros Oriental | Philippines | Female Solo Traveler
Just a 20 minute ride from Dumaguete lays Dauin. It’s famous for scuba diving and trips to Apo Island. There are a lot of resorts along the beach offering the trips.
If you don’t want to go diving or snorkeling, you can get around and visit some highlights in the area.

--DAUIN THINGS TO DO--
I visited:
►Casaroro falls
►Twin Lakes
►Smokey mountain (just along the road)
I got on the back of a motor cycle which costed me 2000 pesos for the whole day, private tour. Not sure if lunch was supposed to be included. My guide paid for me but I paid it back later
The resort I stayed in doesn’t normally offer trips like this. It was specially arranged for me.
Along the way you pay little entrance fees at both locations, and you need to register.
►Casaroro falls
It’s a lot of steps to go down! And then there used to be a path, but it was washed away with a flood / tyfoon. Get ready to get over some wet stones - wear good shoes - and prepare for wet feet. Journey is rewarding though. Falls are high, and not crowded.
►Twin Lakes
Very silent place. Looks like Austria to be honest!
Get a boat over the lake - 150 pesos per hour for the kayak, going around yourself. Or 250 per hour to get a bigger boat with boatman.
To see twin lakes viewpoint and visit the small falls you’ll need at least 1/5 to 2 hours.
There is a small restaurant with view over the lake for lunch. But there are lots of picknick spots as well.
I suspect this place is busy in the weekend and holidays, when people will have a picknick here.
NOTE: you are not allowed to fly a drone over the lakes. It’s a protected area.
--SLEEP IN DAUIN--
►Mikes Dauin Resort -
Recommended in the area. Friendly staff, good beds, little pool and lots of divers! Good food also. This is the place I stayed in and it did not disappoint.
Other options:
►Pura Vida -
Close to the place I stayed in and it looked good from the outside! Pictures online make me curious too
--EAT IN DAUIN--
Just walk along the beach, and stop where ever you want a bite. I liked the food at Mike’s and since I was traveling alone, I don’t feel the need to go out for food all the time ;)

--TEXT IN THE VIDEO--
It’s a relatively short hop from Siquijor to Dumaguete.
Drive 20 minutes south, and you’ll end up in Dauin.
A sleepy little town, with some very nice resorts along the beach.
With Apo Island just around the corner, scuba diving is by far the nr 1 attraction here.
But if you’re not a diver, it’s highly recommended to head this way…
Being so long and narrow, makes this waterfall unique. The water drops over 30 meter before it smashes into the natural pool underneath.
Thick clouds of sulfur just leak out of the mountain, climbing up to the sky. It’s a fascinating choreography, almost hypnotizing…
High up in the mountains, the twin lakes are hidden. It’s an important bird area with a high number of endangered species. But what you’ll mostly notice is how quiet and peaceful it is up here. A place to wind down, far from daily life..
They say still waters run deep, in this case even to 90 meters.
If you make it to the other side, you’ll be rewarded with yet an other little waterfall.
The last stop of the lake, will give you a great view over the two twins.

--HOW TO GET TO SIPALAY--
Take the direct bus from Bacolod (about 5 hours) to Sipalay town. Or a minivan (p350). Minivan is a bit faster than the big bus, but since it might take a longer time to leave and you’re more cramped inside, I am not sure what the best option would be. I like the big bus better ;)
From Dumaguete: take a bus to Bayawan, Hinoba-an. It will cost you 6 to 7 hours. It will cost you just over 200 pesos with public transport (p120 + p75 + p35). If you hire a van it would be 5000 in total, which is not worth it if you are a solo traveler like me ;)
If you stay in Dauin, no need to go to the busstop in town. It’ll pass by the resort. Unless you want to be certain to be seated ;)
And it might seem complicated (as a foreigner) to go from bus to bus, but people are very helpful along the way and if you leave one bus, the next one will be already there! No worries. It’s just a day you lose on traveling. But it’s worth it ;)
--WHAT TO SEE IN SIPALAY--
I did two tours.
► One was to Danjugan island (next video).
► The other tour was a tour to the highlights of the main land.
p1000 for half a day or p1500 for a day trip. It’s a trycicle trip, so again, make friends and you’ll split the costs.
You need to pay entrance fees along the way (from 30 pesos to 80 pesos according to the place) and lunch is not included.
What I saw was 2 resorts (including perth resort, with the infinity pool) – the cave which is really cool! (100 pesos for the guide with light, I gave him 150 since it was quite a hike).
You can arrange this tour with Roland Dequina – rolandtours.wordpress.com or 09489358749
Tell him you found him through this video! Not because he’ll charge a fee for me ;) Just because it’s nice to know how people find out about you And I am curious for that as well!
I believe you can also get into a kano, more island hopping, archery…. There is a whole lot more to explore but I’ll leave that to you!
--WHERE TO SLEEP IN SIPALAY--
I would highly recommend Takatuka Lodge! Love the place! Inspired on Pippi Longstocking’s tale, with a lot of weird rooms all over the place. Different themes like the cave room, superstar, rockadilly, a castle… you name it ;) It’s seriously the best hotel I’ve been in in the Philippines (and I have been to a lot I love ;) – It’s so funky and unique, the owners and staff are friendly and helpful, the food is great, they attract friendly guests, the beach is just there. AMAZING! Seriously. Go here. GO! What are you waiting for? ;)
► Find Takatuka here:
--WHERE TO EAT IN SIPALAY--
Because I stayed on Sugar Beach, there’s not much options to get out for dinner. You can’t just leave and get back after dark I stayed at Takatuka mainly for food, and it’s good! Not cheap but a whole lot of variety, and great healthy stuff.

Guimaras Travel Guide | Philippines 2018 | Let's Explore by TravelGretl featuring BangsBucketList

--WHAT TO SEE IN GUIMARAS--
We did two tours. The tour over land and the island hopping tour.
► Land tour
We saw only half the tour. Normally it features:
- Windmill park
- Holy Family hills
- Ruins of the lighthouse, and you could visit the beach close by
- Mango farm
- Monastery with Trappist beer!
I would suggest you take a taxi instead of a tricycle. I mean: the driver was really very nice! But the distances are very long and you’ll definitely get a sore butt ;)
Wake up early morning, cause you’ll need lots of time to see all!
► Island hopping
We arranged this with a captain in front of our hotel, just on the beach.
We saw:
- the sandbar with the island next to it
- a cave in the water (some boats go in, bigger don’t)
- an other beautiful beach with very shallow water
- A platform / houseboat from where you could jump into the water from a nice hight (not featured)
--WHERE TO SLEEP IN GUIMARAS--
There are a lot of options actually, but we found a hotel that just opened. A really cool place with good rooms next to the beach! It’s next to the popular Raymen beach resort, but less big and the building is very cool!
► Florida Coral Beach Resort:
--WHERE TO EAT IN GUIMARAS--
We ate at:
► Raymen beach resort
► Definitely try the Mango Pizza from the pitstop!!!
