The park is located about 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Duluth and is one of the ten most visited state parks in Minnesota. The western half of the park contains part of a rocky, 13-mile (21 km) gorge. Today Minnesota State Highway 210 runs through Jay Cooke State Park. The 9 miles (14 km) of the route between Carlton and Highway 23—which include the park—are designated the Rushing Rapids Parkway, a state scenic byway.[3]

The park is named for Pennsylvania financier Jay Cooke, who had developed a nearby power plant, which is still in use.[4] The Grand Portage trail and three districts of 1930s park structures are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Gooseberry Falls State Park is a state park of Minnesota, USA, on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The park is located in Silver Creek Township, about 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Two Harbors, Minnesota in Lake County on scenic Minnesota Highway 61. The Joseph N. Alexander visitor center, built in 1996, provides space for interpretive displays, a cinema screening room, and a gift shop. The rustic style resources in Gooseberry Falls State Park were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1934 and 1941. The structures are notable for their stone construction, using red, blue, brown, and black basalt. The designs were supervised by the Minnesota Central Design Office of the National Park Service and construction was supervised by two Italian stonemasons.

This is Tyson's Galleria center, an uppity mall located in Mclean, Virginia, a Washington DC suburb. There are many high end stores here including Gucci, Saks Fifth Avenue, Kate Spade, Louis Vitton and more. I don't go to this mall too much. If there was a Walmart here or Sears I would.

Coldwater Spring Park-Minneapolis Minnesota time lapse

I was browsing online maps of the cities and found we have a new park currently in restoration, Coldwater Springs Park is located south of Minnehaha Falls and across Hiawatha Ave from the Vet Hospital. The natural spring was a sacred place to native Indians with rival tribes being at peace when visiting the spring. For years it was State property with very little public access. It is now open to the public with limited parking.

Backpack Hammocking in the Minnesota Northwoods

Got out for two nights (too short!!) and went to Northern Minnesota to some favorite spots in Crosby Manitou State Park (terrific trails there) and then on to Horseshoe Ridge on the Superior Hiking Trail. Then looped back to the trailhead and home. Slept wonderfully in my hammock and had some good woods walking.
