Places to see in ( Riccione - Italy )
Riccione is a town on Italy’s Adriatic coast. It's known for its vibrant party scene, water parks and broad beaches. Along the boutique-lined Viale Ceccarini, Papa Giovanni Paolo II Park has shaded paths. Nearby, the early-20th-century Villa Franceschi houses the Galleria d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea. Artifacts from prehistory to Roman times, including a bison skeleton, are on display at the Museo del Territorio.
Riccione is one of the Italy's most famous seaside resorts. It is located in the east cost of Italy. It is close to Rimini which is a roman city and where you can find many ancient sightseeing like Tiberio bridge and August arch. Riccione is located in Emilia Romagna which is the most famous Italian region for exporting food in all the world (for instance Parmesan cheese, Parma ham, ragu bolognese). Riccione is also popular for the nightlife, there are many amazing restaurants, pubs and bars facing the sea.
As many touristic places that face the sea, is it possible to spend time on the fine sand, practice all kind of water sport, but the best feature of Riccione is the night life, there are a lot of clubs where to meet new people, dance and drink some of the best are: - Cocoricò (Riccione Alta), according to DJ Magazine, the best disco in Italy and one of the best in Europe - Pascha (Riccione Alta) a very trendy disco - Beach Cafè (Marano) on the beach - Mojito (Marano) on the beach - Prince (Riccione Alta)
Riccione has also several hotels with packets for cyclists, services typically include full-board with breakfast, afternoon pastabuffe and dinner, cycling guides and tours, maps, bicycle hires etc. Cycling seasons are mostly on April-May on the spring, and September-October in the autumn. The cycling routes are mostly on the hills and mountains, with some flat ones along the coast.
The oldest archaeological findings in Riccione's area date to the 2nd century BC, although it was most likely settled in advance. At the time of the Roman Republic, it was known as Vicus Popilius and a bridge over the Rio Melo river. After an obscurity period, in 1260 it was acquired by the Agolanti family, connected to the lords of Rimini, the Malatesta. In the 17th century some watchtowers were built on the seaside against assaults by pirates.
Tourism in Riccione is massive, including mostly young people attracted by its great nightlife. The Adriatic coast in Emilia Romagna is called Riviera Romagnola and it has plenty of night clubs. Riccione also attracts families with children, thanks to its theme parks, hotels organize baby sitting for kids all day in the hotel and on the beach.
The scores of hotels on the Riviera, one next to the other, determine the large number of tourists flowing there in summer. The main streets of Riccione, viale Dante and viale Ceccarini have numerous night spots, bars, and hotels, in the night and they are the best place for shopping and eating during the day. The seafront is a long boulevard, shaped by a road and an equally developed bicycle lane, that reaches up to the town's end going along the sea.
