Outstanding 16th century mansion in Albaicin, Granada, Spain.
Exceptional 16th century property in the heart of historic Albaicin. The traditional house, once inhabited by the nobility, was restored with high quality materials 8 years ago maintaining the style and many old elements like the wood-beam ceilings, marble columns and their capitals, thick doors The reform was undertaken fulfilling the building requirements of the Unesco for the area, which form part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for example those concerning underground hidden cables and pipes.
The Arabic-style property surrounds a traditional style patio with cobbled floor and a fountain. Outdoors there is also a swimming pool, currently used as an Arab pond like those in Alhambra.
The 176 sq m property is based on two levels. From the patio, nice stairs with splendid columns and wood-beam ceiling lead to the entrance of the main house which is on the first floor. On the ground floor and with a separate entrance straight through the patio there is a 42 sq m apartment consisting on one bedroom, living room and bathroom. This apartment is also accessed from the rest of the house, although with a small reform it could be totally separated and rented independently. Possibility to install kitchen. The main property consist of spacious lounge where we find one of the jewels of the property, a stone carved front with the coat of arms of the count who owned the property in the 16th century, at the time of the Catholics Monarchs. There is also a smaller and more cosy living room with stunning views of the Alhambra and Albaicin, kitchen with a glazed tyles table and big built-in cupboard, bathroom and a big bedroom with a large built-in wardrobe and a balcony with views of the Generalife.

Karen Brown's Finca Santa Marta, Trujillo, Spain.
Welcome to Karen Brown's World of Travel
We would like to share with you one of our recommended hotels in SPAIN
The Finca Santa Marta in Trujillo
Henri Elink Schuurman and his Spanish wife, Marta, are owners of a beautiful 19th-century farm (finca) with two granite houses, an olive press, a winery, and a house chapel 14 kilometers outside Trujillo (on the road between the lovely town of Trujillo and Guadalupe).
With patience and love they have tucked guestrooms into the various buildings, taking great care not to disturb the ambiance of the farm that makes a stay here so special.
Henri (formerly a Dutch diplomat) and Marta, a talented artist and decorator, have created a beautiful ambiance of rustic simplicity.
The entire farm is absolutely delightful.
We really like all the bedrooms but if you want complete privacy, opt for El Palomar, a little cottage in the olive garden.
Country-cute rooms are tucked into the former farm buildings overlooking the olive grove.
Each has a private patio where you can sit out in the evening. We particularly loved Las Cigüeñas, the grandest of suites in the farmhouse.
An abundant breakfast and dinner are served in the almazara (wine press) or out in the vine-covered courtyard.
There are two swimming pools and acres of vineyards, olive groves, and cherry and almond trees.
It's a paradise for birdwatchers.
The dogs are always looking for guests willing to take them for a walk to the nearby village of San Clemente with its pretty little church. This is an ideal spot for visiting Trujillo and Guadalupe.

Over the past 10 years we have visited literally hundreds of cave houses throughout the Altiplano. However, it's only once in a while that you will you come across as stunning an example as Cueva Rueda in Galera!
Even though its external appearance is delightful in its own right, it's only when you enter the beautifully constructed and finished off cave house itself that you know you're somewhere very special indeed.
Clearly no expense was spared in converting this two storey property into an outstanding and highly desirable dwelling.
The quality of the materials used, along with the innovative design plus the tasteful interior decorating makes this a must-see residence.
Maybe you've never been into a cave house. Or perhaps you have never even thought about living in one. Either way, come and see this one-of-a-kind exceptionally fine example of such a dwelling and you'll almost certainly see what we mean.
There are three top quality spacious, light and airy bedrooms and two wonderfully appointed and well laid out bathrooms. The same quality and charm is to be experienced in the fully modernised fitted kitchen, the lounge and even the office. There's a lovely patio outside where you can sit down and relax while enjoying the views across to other distant renovated caves hewn into the hillsides several hundred metres away.
There is ample room to park cars also. This little bijou truly is very well worth a visit.
