Cedar City is the largest city in Iron County, Utah, United States. It is located 250 miles south of Salt Lake City, and 170 miles north of Las Vegas on Interstate 15. It is the home of Southern Utah University, the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Utah Summer Games, the Neil Simon Theatre Festival, and other events. As of the 2010 census the city had a population of 28,857, up from 20,257 in 2000. As of 2016 the estimated population was 31,223.

Cedar Breaks is a natural amphitheater, stretching across 3 miles , with a depth of over 2,000 feet . The elevation of the rim of the amphitheater is over 10,000 feet above sea level. The eroded rock of the amphitheater is more eroded than, but otherwise similar to formations at nearby Bryce Canyon National Park, Red Canyon in Dixie National Forest and select areas of Cedar Mountain .
