Fermeture du parc de loisirs de Mirapolis quatre ans après son ouverture. Les forains, derniers repreneurs en date n'ont pas voulu poursuivre cette coûteuse aventure à la veille de l'ouverture d'Eurodisney.
Deux millions de visiteurs étaient attendus chaque année, ils n'ont été que 400 000. En deux ans, 350 millions de francs de pertes avaient été accumulés. Interview de Marcel CAMPION, président du GIE MIRA FET sur la tentative de reprise du parc par les forains et le sur-dimensionnement du parc qui avait été conçu comme un parc européen.

En Mai 1987, Mirapolis, le premier parc d'attractions d'Ile de France, doit ouvrir ses portes à Cergy Pontoise.
La tête de Gargantua, de 11 m de haut et 38 tonnes doit être posée. Il s'agit d'une tête en polystyrène avec une armature de métal qui a nécessité le travail d'une trentaine de personnes.
Le chapiteau central abritera la danse et le folklore et le château des sortilèges, les inventions de LEONARD DE VINCI. 36 attractions sont prévues dont des manèges aquatiques, des guinguettes et des buvettes.
Pour l'instant encore, c'est un immense chantier qui dure depuis 14 mois.
Interview de Guy de BOISGROLLIER, directeur général de Mirapolis, sur la concurrence auquel il va falloir faire face (DISNEY). Il est optimiste.
