Konopiste Castle - Czech Republic Travel Guide

Located approximately thirty miles outside of Prague is the luxurious Baroque chateau of Konopiste.
The chateau was initially constructed as a Gothic fortress, then remodeled with Renaissance modifications, and finally repaired after damages in Baroque style.

Kost Castle is among the grandest of the Czech Republic's surviving castles.
It was built in the 14th century and is extremely well preserved.
Kost Castle is unusual in its location in a valley rather than on a hill.
This added in its protection as it remained largely hidden from potential assaults.
Visitors to the castle will get a glimpse into the medieval life of Czech noblemen.
Kost Castle is still owned by the aristocratic Kinsky family who run tours for visitors.
Konopiště, Czech Republic: Ferdinand's Castle

Český Šternberk Castle (Czech: Hrad Český Šternberk) is a Bohemian castle of the mid 13th century, located within the village with the same name of the Central Bohemian Region in Czech Republic. It is an early Gothic castle which was constructed, named and still owned by members of the same family. Český Šternberk Castle is today a residence that bears a long historical and architectural heritage and represents an attractive tourist destination open to the public. It is considered one of the best preserved Gothic Bohemian castles.

Křivoklát was founded in the 12th century, belonging to the kings of Bohemia. During the reign of Přemysl Otakar II a large, monumental royal castle was built, later rebuilt by king Václav IV and later enlarged by king Vladislav of Jagellon.
